For anyone interested, the Blender conversion plugin will not load in the latest version of Blender. You have to use version 3.6L to get it to install.

For the description file, it's the same as any other line. Make sure the file name is correct and it is set to false. If you have more questions feel free to reach out to me on Discord, I can generally respond much quicker there.

I got a question; hope you can help with. The F-16 has this file f16c_glass_canopy_gold_dif which allows me to put images or write important notes on the canopy. Would you be able to discover the F-18 version of this file ? I've looked everywhere and none of them seem to be it.

I don't have dcs yet but I do plan on getting it and although it may not be a real A-10 scheme I'd love to see this one with the warthog teeth on the nose, I'm from Michigan so it would be cool to have a michigan based A-10 but I really like the teeth look on the nose

I've completely reworked this template since this video. I did not add teeth though, but I can add it to my list of Livery to dos. I plan on releasing more A-10 liveries in the future, so I'll be sure to get one with teeth.

Many thanks for your very clear and instructional videos! I currently don't know much about texture editing but considering to take the plunge, I mainly would like to customize the strength of the canopy reflections in certain modules as I personally feel they are a bit too weak/subtle... I understand it's a matter of playing with the alpha channel of the relevant textures, any tips on how to proceed ? I identified the textures but am stuck on how to actually change the colors of the alpha channel.. Thanks

You are welcome. Sounds like you are on the right track. First, you can't change the color of the alpha, only the transparency. For the colors you will need to edit the main diffuse file and play with the colors until you get what you want. For example, if you are looking for a gold tint, the color in the editor will not be the final result, due to alpha and reflections. For this reason it takes a bit of playing around. If you are looking to make it more or less transparent, just change the overall transparency of your alpha channel.

Looking forward to watching this one! I've been trying to get more into making skins recently for DCS. Stuff like the Apache had me wishing I could somehow use something like Substance Painter, even if it required me to learn an entirely new program, because hunting down those rivets and bolts quickly moved the skin making process from enjoyable to just soul crushing. After working on the Apache to create the Czech Air Force livery I was working on, the Ka-50 III seemed incredibly easy and enjoyable by comparison.

I have done the JF-17 template a couple times now. It was one of the first ones I put a lot of work into. At least it has a pretty decent layout to work with.

Thank you for the video tutorial. Can I learn to draw smooth curved lines on the helmet with a blender or Photoshop or any other software? I'm drawing in photoshop but the result is not satisfactory my lines sometimes bend weirdly. thank you :)

You can. If you find the lines you draw are warping when applied to the model, most likely it is a problem with the way the did the UV Map. In this case, you just have to tweak your lines to compensate for their poor mapping. If you mean more that your lines are blurry, then use the Pen tool to create custom shapes instead of using a brush tool. Vector objects will have cleaner lines.

How do you get it to export as a DDS with the Nvidia texture tool? i have the Nvidia plugin but it doesn't let me export as DDS. I can open files that are already labeled as DDS and save my progress but I cant make new files into DDS.

In PS make sure you use “Save A Copy”, then select dds from the dropdown for the type of file. If you can’t get it, hit me up on discord and I can send screenshots of it.

Hello, I followed the video step by step but I have a problem that I can't solve and I would really appreciate your help. After creating the liveries folder in my saved games and modifying autoexec.lua I placed my files in the liveries folder (saved games). The problem is that ModelViewer2 does not show the files. I was even able to load the livery that I installed there to modify into the game, but not in ModelViewer2. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I tried first as you did in the video and then with ModelViewer2 MT, but neither of them shows the livery. I hope you can help me. Thanks.

I don't have any custom curves for the Jeff. However, I do have an extension on my stick which makes a difference. If you are finding it a bit touchy around the center just try a curve of 5 and increase by 5 until you find the sweet spot for your setup.
