The Avengers were the icing on the cake that was comprised by Danger Man/Secret Agent, The Saint, James Bond, The Man From Uncle, I Spy, In Like Flint, etc. The entire 60's were a sustained crescendo of post WWII geopolitical dominance through pro active intelligence networks. Shallow and one dimensional intelligence devoid of any underlying wisdom, but we couldn't care less on that count. Justification was always a foregone conclusion for what we did. The tongue in cheek Western assurance was written into every line and scene. Diana Rigg played along with the smug romantic scenarios that paled in comparison to her exemplary and extensive stage work. She weathers these portions of her interviews like a champ.

Diana Rigg gets that look in her eyes when The Avengers is mentioned. Oh no! Not again! I have to talk about that boorish interlude again. At least compared to all of the much more interesting things I've done. Which is a whole lot! She goes through the obligatory comments like a champ every time.

Age is a matter of spirit. Then we must keep the burning flame of life burning and illuminating within us. With a few pounds less and a disciplined diet with natural foods and your blood type you get back in shape. Let your hair grow or keep the chanel still color brown. Then you become the bond girl again.

I still enjoy watching those reruns. The 60's had some great shows. The Avengers is still one of many of the best Britain had to offer to American audiences.I was 14 yrs. old then. Thanks for posting this show.

She has that enchanting that smile that I use to love so much, when, beeing a boy, I secretely watched The Avengers (Sundays evenings, 10PM, was deemed too late by my parents).

But what happened to her lovely auburn hair? Is it gray or flaxen blonde now? She's still a beauty. I "idoloized" her when I was a girl. I wanted my name to be "Emma!" I did get some white "go go" boots and pretended to be her as I slinked around with a Roy Roges toy revolver ... what a hilarious kid I was

I love it, she's not skinny!! She probably can't get into that leather pantsuit...isn't that just smashing? We don't have to be svelte all our lives to be attractive.

As a kid in Ohio, my third cousin would emulate Steed. It was rare -- I wish I could find him to see what came of him. I ended up in Paris. Hee hee! (And I made money in leather back in the States, oh la la!)

I just love everything about this woman! She still looks wonderful even now, but I could think of other "fighting" clips they could have shown...like the scene from Murdersville where she gave Doctor Haynes a good throttling, and later she fought off about 4 or 5 men.

I can't believe how old Diana Rigg is now! Honor Blackmon (who came before her on "The Avengers") looks better at 81 than Rigg is at 71 and I couldn't tell if it was her in this clip or Vanessa Redgrave.

It gladdens my heart to see this clip because I was always under the impression that Dame Diana would never utter a word about the Avenger in public. But she appears to be taking it in good humour here, so perhaps time has healed some of the wounds. I absolutely LOVED Emma Peel when I was a kid. And being a kid I didnt understand why she disappeared and someone else took her place.
