I run a v plow in Manitoba, and the way I do it is to hit once a bit to the left and then to the right. If you don’t widen what you’ve done the plow can act like a giant arrow head and you’ll get stuck. Oh yeah and let off the gas just before you hit the bank so your wheels don’t spin. I keep my wing up at about a 45 degree angle when widening to get the snow moving as far as possible. I don’t feel the need to criticize anyones technique. Do whatever works for you!

Nice - Does the Henke front plow have guide wheels or donuts ? Hard to tell, is the Henke front plow hinged to make it a V or Scoop plow ? I forget, your general area, is it western - northwestern Mn ? How does the Cat hydro 926M handle the equipment ? How's the speed ? Do you prefer the grader or loader for plowing ? TIA Keep the vid's coming !
@nicholasstaloch66142 жыл бұрын
I have the puck style shoes on that plow. They do offer a pneumatic wheel setup on 14' or larger ones on the graders. They put a spacer block in between the lift group and the front of the machine to get them out further so there are room for the wheels. Its a awesome looking setup. It is a fully functioning v plow just like a boss pickup plow. The loader handles the snow really well. I mean obviously the deeper the snow the more it will struggle but for doing roads it keeps the speed up pretty good. For the most part i will plow at around 16mph. I do prefer the grader of course but I have the loader on the farm so may as well use it for the roads as well. I do five townships so with the two machines going we can usually cover our roads in about 8 hrs. I'm located in ND about 65 miles NW of Fargo.

This is ND wind blown snow. It is hard as concrete and you have to back up and take a run at it. You make it as far as you can and you spin out and you back up and do it again. This was my old tandem drive machine so it spun out a lot sooner than my new AWD one would now.
@coolchef093 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasstaloch6614 yea i know what windblown snow is like, I have cornfields around my property and I get to deal with 2-foot snowdrifts in my driveway alone and I can stand on top of them being a 260lbs man. if you watch some of the commercial-grade snow throwers they use one big truck it might be a better option as much as you hate the idea of changing something

This is the time for an old Oshkosh with the cement block on the back and then keep the plow about 3 inched off the ground so when it hits the snow it pushes the front down and then just let her roll! That’s how they used to get it done in Wisconsin years ago. Graders were great for peeling back ice or lighter snow but lacked the power and momentum of the Oshkosh trucks.

The operator is so inexperienced, he can’t drive forward or back straight. A v-plow for this much hard pack snow is the wrong tool.
@renislevasseur8553 жыл бұрын
So what is the right tool for the job? You sound like you should be a brain surgeon instead of just a keyboard know it all. It’s probably a small municipality with a small budget. So in fact a grader with a v-plow with a wing for shelving is indeed the right tool for the job Einstein!
@zfilmmaker3 жыл бұрын
@@renislevasseur855 you know the term but not the meaning. V plow is effective on fresh fallen snow, not snow drifted roads hard compacted like this back road. To much resistance on the plow, which is why the operator keeps having to backup to regain momentum. A straight plow is the better solution to ‘shelf’ the snow in sections which you can’t do with a V. Here’s a good example, mid way through the video you’ll understand what I mean. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7Bjm9xj07bWl3U.html

zfilmmaker I’ve been running a cat grader with a V plow for 35 years. This guy is a total rookie. I have a 12 M3 that would wipe that out in one pass. Check my video.
@zfilmmaker3 жыл бұрын
@@CATMAN42ful I never doubted a grader couldn’t do the job, just the guy in the video can't. That said, I could and have ripped through roads just like this in one pass with my Fendt 1050 and a Degelman blade. I’d do it in two passes to widen it... I angle my blade so the snow is pushed to the side. But it really comes down to operator experience. KZfaq has many grader videos in snow twice as deep push through in a single pass with running starts. I have no doubt you can do it too.
