I always look at skill level and shy away from many. I am more of an appliquér rather than piecer. I want to be a piecer but have lots of difficulty. The most important information for me, and I have been “working” at quilting for 20 years! But the most important information for me is to know the correct size of a piece as it is going together, ie, you sew a to b and it should measure X. Vice waiting til the end of the block and I have failed. I think your ideas are brilliant! I may shy away from flying geese because I just can’t get them right. Brilliant! LOVE YOUR you tubes fabrics and patterns thank you for sharing your talent.

Love these fabrics. Could you place a black piece of paper behind the white on white fabric, thought it might show up the pattern well in the video. Thanks for all your hard work so helpful and fun to watch xx 🇦🇺

Thank you!...I can't on this video, but if you watch the original Coriander Seeds fabric video linked in the description box, that is what I did. Also, if you visit the blog post and look at the photos I took of the fabric, you can see the prints nicely there as well.

How come you do 2” binding and not 2.5” binding?
@CorianderQuiltsКүн бұрын
It allows for the binding fabric to be pulled tightly against the quilt edge allowing for a more accurate seam on the back.

I don’t understand why fabric manufacturers don’t print larger quantities of the fabrics in a line that will obviously be used as background fabrics and therefore be bought in larger quantities. It doesn’t seem fair to quilters or to quilt shops. Quilters can’t find what they need, and quilt shops can get stuck with other fabrics from a line because the background fabrics are not available. Also, when quilters purchase a basic or a solid from a different dye lot, the colors might not match. I have purchased the off-white Bella solid three separate times and all are different from each other. I would not be able to combine them in the same quilt if I wanted a uniform background color.
@CorianderQuiltsКүн бұрын
I can’t speak for how other fabric manufacturers work but I can explain how Moda handles this. Fabric lines are shown to quilt shops to order about 6 months before the fabric line is available in shops. During the ordering window, quilt shops can place their orders to receive the fabrics when they ship. Once the ordering window closes, the fabrics are made to fill those quilt shop orders. It’s up to each quilt shop if they choose to order a line and how much of a line they order. In regard to dye lots on fabric reprints, it is always wise to purchase the yardage needed for an individual project all at once to avoid any dye lot variations. While I personally have not had trouble with Bellas, I had a favorite dark gray from another company that I used frequently many years ago and it varied quite a bit from different dye lots.

I want to buy coriander seeds to have on hand what amount do you recommend ? For example 1/2 yd cuts or 1 yard etc.
@CorianderQuilts2 күн бұрын
It depends a lot on what you typically make. Backgrounds on quilts will take several yards whereas small projects will require less. For the size quilts that I make most often, I would feel pretty comfortable purchasing 5 yards knowing that will work for a lot of them but there will be some that might require a little bit more.

Corey, your fabrics are absolutely beautiful. Well done in all you design. I feel so lucky to be starting my quilting journey with some of the best fabrics ever made. Also at a time when media platforms,such as KZfaq, Facebook, Instagram, and many more, allow us to connect around the world with instant access to patterns(as long as the correct email is used¡![sorry ❤ got there in the end]). We are able to purchase the materials of many brilliant designers(which you are up there as one of my favourites)without leaving our homes. We are guided by people who have many years of experience that can save us a fortune at avoiding mistakes, that only years of practice lead us down the right path. Thank you for doing what you do. Totally appreciate your hard work. 😊❤

Hi Corey. Thanks for answering my question. What a great idea to have a line of basics. I love white on white prints but they are often very stiff, perhaps over printed? I often use the back side if they are too stiff. Yours look wonderful, it is helpful when you showed the white print in another color to see the design. I will look for your basics next time I visit my local quilt shop.
@CorianderQuilts2 күн бұрын
I was happy to answer! Some of the white on whites do have more body to them than a solid would. The more printing, the more "stiff' they will be. This does make them very nice for piecing. Today, I've been sewing with the dotted squares print from Coriander Seeds and on that one I'm not able to tell a difference by "feel" than a Bella solid. If you want less body, you'd want to look for the ones with less printing.

The only other thing I can think of to add is if any special rulers are needed. I consider myself a beginner/intermediate quilter.
