I have OA. The muscles inside my mouth are always red and rigid, and asymmetrical. Would an orthotic hypothetically/potentially help loosen up these constantly tight intraoral muscles? Massage barely does anything anymore, because I've degraded so much and am considering getting an orthotic to at least save one of my joints even the other is getting replaced.

I was born with micrognathia I had surgery but for the first few weeks I was opening normally but as time went by the wideness of my mouth decreased and it became painful when I tried to open wider I now open one finger width. What should I do to get better

Hello, my mouth will not open all the way and since yesterday morning this has been happening, usually it goes away but my jaw has locked and I can only fit two fingers in my mouth, what can I do? I think I might have tmj and I’m currently using Invisalign. I don’t feel pain unless I use my jaw, idk what to do, can I massage it back into place, I’ve tried but it hasn’t work ?

I've had diagnosed TMJ for about a year now and it was diagnosed by a physical therapist. I saw a neurologist who diagnosed me with sleep apnea. The sleep apnea could cause bruxism which could cause TMJ. He told me that sleep apnea could possibly (but not definitely) go away if I got down from my 31 BMI to a 26 BMI. Is this really possible? I'm not asking you if it could cure my tmj. I just want to know if the part about losing weight and sleep apnea could be true

Thank you Priya. I got a new TMJ mouth guard yesterday from my dentist but wasn t sure why it was more expensive than the normal mouth guard. This video has explained it to me. I t s strange getting used to sleeping with a lump of plastic in your lower mouth but if it helps to ease the stiffness of my lower jaw, I ll be happy. It s very difficult to chew anything lately. Anyway, thanks again.

How to determine if you have one or the other? Who to see? Dentist or ENT? I have a history of popping jaw but I recently had an ear infection and treated with antibiotics taken by ear drops for about two months but the popping has slowed and now I have bone scraping and grinding in my jaw/ear area! Very painful now opening and have had it locked open on me a time or two.

Dr as a child i always had very defined features and jaws as i grew older i developed tmj problems ( clicking and popping ) in the left side of my jaw and slowly crept to the right side as well because of this I am suffering from a recessed chin and lower jaw i told my dentist about this and he made me a night guard ( altho i dont clenching my teeth out of habit ) through research i have found that the recession in my face has occurred from bending of the condyles ( which my mouth guard worsened ) also to add that after the mouth guard was out into place i have developed the habit of clenching my jaw subconsciously can you please tell me what to do to stop and fix this recession of the chin mandible and ramus note to add that i have a wide palate and breathe through my nose your advice on how i can straighten my condyles and stop the recession of the lower jaw will be much appreciated
