UV blues & greens down deep. Although when bottom fishing down between 100-300 ft Ive had great success with gold/chrome buctails with a squid head on the hook (3/4 oz size for its stout hook made by Spro). Everything hits this - all rockfish & lings too.

Great video. Will be in Florida at the end of the month for some fishing. Coming from San Diego, CA. I love fishing that pier every time I'm there . Hopefully the fish cooperate.

Great video! I love catching mangrove snapper. I use cut mullet and have no problem limiting out every time. Mullet is better than shrimp imo bc shrimp come off the hook too easy. Mullet stays on for so much longer while the fish are nagging at it

Thank you again for a great instructional video. I'm about to move to the east coast and will be able to fish again for the first time in over 25 years. So much has changed and trying to relearn everything I used to know is daunting.

Would this work with a using jighead instead in deeper water under a bridge?
@hookedonfishingforreelАй бұрын
Yes it could. Just depends on type of jig head. Crusher jigs or yellowtail snapper jigs would work great. Size 1/4 oz. Hope this helps. 👍

you do beautiful work! but as a retired commercial fisherman who made my own jigs and seawitches for years, the fish don't need that perfection. but i respect the heck out of your work.

Here in Miami most of those little parks have a fence with no fishing signs all around, or homeless drug addicts wandering around. Stay safe!

did you let the bait hit the bottom?
@hookedonfishingforreel2 ай бұрын
Yes! I had a small split shot about 18 inches up from the hook; which allowed the bait to sink slowly in the water column to the bottom.

Super helpful information and well explained with a calming voice with ways to use the information. As an educator of 20+ years this is the type of content I’m looking for. Seeing the big fish videos are great. But this, your jigs video and your knots videos were super helpful. Thanks and keep up the great work.

One of these days I would love to head out there with you. Here is my request in the meantime: what are your favorite braid to leader knots?
@hookedonfishingforreel3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! And great question. My favorite braid to leader knots are the Uni Knot and the FG Knot. I like the Uni because it’s quick to tie and is a good strong dependable knot. I like the FG knot because it doesn’t snag on the eyelets of the fishing rod when casting as the Uni knot sometime does. And It’s also a very strong dependable knot. You really can’t go wrong with either of these two knots. Tight lines my friend👍🎣🎣🎣
