That is the Garmin Quatix 7x solar. It pairs with the Garmin chart plotter (i keep depth on it when we are anchored - and the depth finder is working). It also has an anchor alarm. Love the battery life on the solar, but, the non-solar is less expensive. If you have a Garmin chart plotter, it is a great tool. I use the navionics boating app ( on my cellphone) to give me a detailed map of the ocean bottom where ever I am. It is much better than a depth finder. Check it out. It is a life saver when I am fishing. No more snagging the bottom with my downrigger cannon balls. Or going near shoals or shallow water. I use that along with the Garmin Striker GPS fish finder.

After one year of ownership, Positive: Spacious, plenty of storage. Interior holding well Mercury outboards fantastic. Fast boat. Joystick is a real joy for docking. Love Garmin electronics. Low clearance for low bridges. Good looking boat. Negatives: Light weight, bit unstable at anchor and rough going on choppy bay. Portside glass panel shattered, long wait to replace. Portholes paint flanking off. Cheap materials. Acces to raw water strainer for A/C not easy so that stateroom can't be used for storage. Brass seacocks, in salt water, need replacement every 5 years. Through hull are British thread so special order.

Great comments. I am in the US, so power cords, through hulls and railing attachments are all non-standard. We do not have a joy stick, a little jealous about those. Sorry about the window. Have seen a few people with that same issue. We have been comfortable at anchor - but in protected harbors. The low dead rise (ie flat bottom) contributes to that rough ride in waves.

Hi how do find the 1095 offshore in rough waters ?
@echozulucruisingАй бұрын
It runs rough off shore in larger seas with how low the dead rise gets about mid-ship. We have crossed to the Bahamas in 5’ seas and wallow a little. It is happiest in seas under 2’. It is sea worthy and you stay dry in the waves, but it is not a smooth ride. The 1095 runs happiest at 4400 rpm, which you just cannot do in waves over 3’.
@christopherkolose5822Ай бұрын

@@echozulucruising What are the main differences between your 1095 and the Antares 11 . ? I seem to recall the Antares has only 2 cabins, so you'd lose that smaller cabin you use for storage. Also, the Antares has the drop-down deck on the starboard side which is rather nice. Any other major differences?
@echozulucruisingАй бұрын
We looked at the Antares 11 as well and liked it. A big deciding factor for us was finding a broker we trusted in Dunbar Yachts. The three things I really prefer (without the experience of owning one) on the Antares 11 are 1) the cockpit "beach mode" 2) a closet in the main cabin and 3) the bow cushions and integrated/stowable sunshade. The three things I prefer on the 1095 are 1) a separate 3rd cabin for storage (instead of the larger full berth that is both storage and sleeping) 2) the salon layout with seating across for meals (and the salon table converting to a large couch for reading and movies) and 3) the galley layout, with more storage above the galley table and with the sink in the corner, then stove, then prep area behind the helm. The Antares 11 looks like a great boat and was on our shortlist, though, we do not have boat envy over not having it (now, the 1295, that I have boat envy over because of all the space).

Stop touching the wheel. Helm centered. Use the gears. Or if you’re going to use the wheel then shift both together and treat like a single screw. If you’re shifting one engine and turning the wheel you’re defeating the whole point
@echozulucruisingАй бұрын
Thank you. My default is engines straight and just throttles unless wanting larger maneuvers, with less power. I learned on boats with fixed props and rudders. So, turning the wheel and engaging the engine is how I think of getting the most lateral movement with the least forward momentum. For example, to move the aft to starboard, spin wheel hard to port in neutral, engage the starboard engine forward briefly to give more aft walk to starboard.
@BruceStott13 күн бұрын
Helm centered and using the gears is correct for twin inboards where the props are some distance apart. With outboards, where the props are close together, it is very effective to use the helm and only the engine on the outside of the turn. This keeps your speed down and maximizes the turning moment. Wheel to starboard, use port engine. Think of turning a shopping cart or a castered office chair. You have the ability to direct the thrust, use it.

Hey, bought a 28ft Bayliner Contessa a few months ago. It's in a wet slip. Got no trailer and forklift at marina can't handle it. I noticed leaked when I bought it and resealed hatches and windows and no leaks there now. But notice water underneath the floor and in a section underneath the seating area which I tried to get some fiberglass resin to try to seal it. Noticed a spot where it would have a few drops come in the bottom. Turned on my pump and dnt hear it working. Previous owner turned it on and it worked but now I turn it on and you see the voltage fluctuate but I dnt see or hear any draining. I just took a shop vac and got the water out and tried to do the fiberglass resin thing. But went back today and there maybe a half gallon of water under the seat again. Not sure what to do. Completely new to boats but I am pretty good at learning these things. Trying to figure out how to fix it in the water.
@echozulucruisingАй бұрын
If there is any leak below the water line, seems likely you need to get professional help. The pumps will not pick up every drop. In our lazarette, we get some water in the bilge from heavy rains, but the bilge in the cabin is typically dry. You are doing the right thing figuring out where the water is coming from!

Whyyyyy do Americans never spec teak or artificial teak flooring when ordering boats?! I don't get it. Bare GRP is so uncomfortable underfoot and looks like crap, and those clip-in rugs are dirty and gross after two seasons at the latest. I'd argue that 0% of boats ordered by European customers have no teak. Otherwise - it's a sensible, practical, well-built boat that just isn't... sexy. It's a 'dad boat'. I know you'll struggle to get your hands on one in the US, but try to find and review a Fiart Seawalker 35. Roughly the same size, about the same cost, also sleeps four and entertains 8+, but so much sexier. Now THAT is a boat in that class I aspire to.
@echozulucruising2 ай бұрын
The Seawalker is sexy looking for sure, with a nice layout. Would love to get on board one, but have not seen any around where I live in Florida. The Cap Camarat 10.5 is more utilitarian (or, a dad boat). The other difference, beyond style, is a larger cabin below, which is important to some people an not others. I am not sure why fewer boats in the US are ordered with teak, i love the look and feel of it personally. I remain partial to our 1095, because of the enclosed cabin and how we use the boat for both overnight trips and day boating. I am always on the look out for our next boat.
