A friend was dealing with a p0340 cel (not p0341) code some weeks back on his kswapped eg civic that we couldn’t figure out (cam timing was on point, replacing cam sensors didn’t fix it, wiring was good/brand new), we then stumbled upon this video but didn’t perform the suggested washer stacking tip, he did press the end of the spring cap down with a pick and heard a pop and figured the spring became unseated from being a high mileage sensor. Reinstalled and went for a test drive and p0340 was gone! No symptoms of a wonky or dying idle or sputtering vtec crossover afterwards. Thanks for this vid 👌

Oh also, it seems that Honda makes different versions of the VTC solenoid inner body. For instance, the one I have doesn’t have the tip like shown in your video where you can disassemble it from the tip. Mine has a completely sealed tip 😢

TIPS: Just completed this on my 2005 Acura TSX. Did it at 191,000 miles, was bored at home since my wife left for 2 weeks so figured what the heck. Did it "need" it no, but I did see that some of my valves were on the loser side or just barely out of spec so it benefited. Tips 1.) Use the ANGLED feeler gauges Uncle Tinman, if you use straight long ones they go in at an angle and will give a false feeling of being tight, I know I have both types of feeler gauges. 2.) If your not sure on the feel, try to insert the larger feeler gauge like .25mm gauge on the intake valve and it should barely fit or not fit at all while the .20mm on the intake will slide through easy no resistance. 3.) Remove the spark plugs so you can stick a ratchet on the power steering pump bolt to rotate it, makes life easier. 4.) Don't worry if youre off a bit when you rotate the cams to cylinder 3,4,2 because if you look at your cam lobes you can see they come off the valves and there's a pretty wide margin for error. 5.) Check you valve cover gasket by pulling a little bit of it out and squishing it, it should squish easy and not crackle or feel brittle, use a couple dabs of rtv on the semi circle portion when putting back on. 6.) Off course use brake cleaner prior to pulling the valve cover to get all the crud off so it doesn't fall into your engine.

When i put my 08 in park and rev it, I hear NO ticking from engine or anything but when I put in drive and accelerate, it kinda sounds like a ticking sound down under my driver area. But engine doesn't tick or knock at all. Could this be exhaust?

@UncleTinman

You might need to adjust the carbs. Eventhough it runs. It may not be running optimally. There's 2 adjustments one for idle and one for high throttle. Try making adjustments on the water. It's super tricky. You'll need to ride. Pop off the seat and adjust.. ride and adjust. Hope this helps. Cheers.

First you have to remove the battery, battery tray, gearbox loom and remove top gearbox bolt, but leave 2 bolt underneath the gear remove the front left passenger side wheel and driver side front wheel and 2 left and right bolt from shocks that connect to the knuckle hub, and drain the gearbox oil and remove the both driver shaft and remove the last 2 bolt underneath the gear and gearbox is out. 😊

There are multiple ways to get to a destination. Ask a farmer how to grow potatoes and you'll get multiple answers. So I guess pick whichever way you feel comfortable with. Whichever makes sense. I had another video where I changed the rad on a Sienna and multiple comments saying I didnt need to take the bumper off. I took the bumper off to minimize the risk of damaging the rad. My way may have taken longer, but was safer. Hope this helps.
