Thanks for documenting this process. I have a Toyota Hiace which has shorter CV axles than the pickup/4Runner so I’m going to try mixing and matching new pickup axles with my short “intermediate shafts” to make it work. Problem is, the outer splines stripped.

At the 40 second mark of this video he’s fishing in an eddy. It’s a great spot to walk in. Very productive there. The boat ramp at sundown at the BLM campground is incredible fishing. This guys video is not for show. Mecca Flats is a great place to fly fish.

I like the idea of heavy-duty bumpers. For me it would be in case someone looking at their phone while driving bumps into my FJ.

The 2012-2014 FJ cruisers have a different tail light assembly. I have a 2014, and there is an additional "slide-out" looking connector that I cannot see how to disconnect on the old housing. Please address this in the future, as I have not found a KZfaq video that explains this part. Thanks!

Yep, tree basically like in your video two weeks ago! That third nut is no fun. Deep socket with a small round 3/8 handle worked. I put a piece of masking tape over the nut to hold it in the socket when putting in the new light. Thanks for the video!

Followed your video to the letter. Bought the weakest 24' strut I could find which was 20 pounds. Your door opens slowly. Mine slams if I don't hold onto it. Which strut are you using. I just saw your link and your strut is 40 pounds and opens slowly while mine is 20 pounds and slams. Don't know what to think

sorry to hear you are having trouble. you can always find the parts list on our website www.lastgreatroadtrip.com/4x4-tech/how-to-modifications/improved-lexus-gx470-rear-door-gas-strut-modification/ These are the parts we used unless the manufacture has changed their product or rerouted their links.

Ive had to use my rear door lockout to hold the swing out open on many occasions, in this case a strut won’t do the trick…

i stumbled upon this while looking around for a good air inflator. How does this pressure regulator work in terms of static and dynamic PSI? When I am filling up my tire with my normal hand held inflator that has a pressure gauge, the gauge always shows much higher than the actual PSI in the tire. Not until I stop the airflow do I see the final/actual tire PSI. How does that work with this regulator?

So it CAN be taken out without the need to disassemble entire trunk area trimming. Great vid! Why I am here: *I got FJ recently (2007 black TRD) It had aftermarket tail light guards - you know which ones. They are designed terribly. Not only they require 3 holes to be drilled in the driver side D pillar, but also the other side of each guard is just nuged in between the ligh and the very shallow profile that it sits in. THere is a sort of small cushin, but that gets rubbed of with time and the guard latch pops right out. And since it is a steel part, it will just hover right above the paintjob and yes from time to time it will hit it - creating nasty paint chips, that if you dont treat and fix, will start to rot out space just behind the tail lights - so my review is: 2/10 poorly designes use only if you don't care about your FJ. It is better to replace the tail light than have two rot spots, caused by the guard.*
