Ladder 161 is located at 2929 West 8th Street in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. They are quartered with Engine 245 and the Chief of the 43rd Battalion. Engine Company 244 was located exactly 7 blocks away, at 2929 West 15th Street. 244 was the closest FDNY unit to the amusement area, but was disbanded in the late 1960's.

With the budget crisis Nyc is set to face next year onward it will be interesting to see how the fdny is affected. I think this current batch of trucks could be the last new ones for a few years. May have to hang on to the spares longer.

Rear-Mount Aerials are already on Order and I believe 5 or 6 have already been delivered awaiting to be placed in service. Same with Pumpers still being delivered to replace 2010's. Tower Ladders are on order as well as Tillers so not to sure.

People are just oblivious to electronic sirens but when they hear a screaming Q they do move over quicker. It demands attention.
