Try TP-Link DECO just for small places/small home - up to 2 bedrooms apartment. Omada for a bigger house with garage and yard, but you'll need a POE switch to power your wi-fi devices and probably if you want to exchange your cameras in the future, you can use POE to power them. Considering the CAT5E cables, try to replace them at least on your rack, connecting your devices such as NAS and e-security stuff on your switch with a good CAT6E or even 7... Between your off-rack devices is just ok, especially if you not using multi gigabyte devices...

I think the regular tuya air quality sensors can pick up the VOC from poops, where it lacks vs. the Air1 is in every other category IIRC. If all you want to do is pick up #2 it might be worth a shot so the Air-1 could be somewhere more useful (living room or bedroom I imagine) given its price.

Dreame robots tend to have easy serial access, so just pop open the hood, plug a few wires in serial port and connect to UART adapter - easy right?! 😀 I bought the vacuum robot based first on whether it can be rooted, then all the other features. No way am I going to risk having a camera/mic enabled IoT device roaming around the house and broadcasting to the cloud!

You should take the time to change out all of your 5e for 6a. That suppers speeds up to 10Gb to give you a more future proof setup. You should also look into utilizing the coax in your house to hardwire your rooms via MoCA adapters. There are some great ones that can push speeds up to 2.5Gbps. I’ve used these and they work great.
@makeitworktech11 сағат бұрын
I'll be doing that with 6 cable! Hmmm, never heard of that option!

Nice review Aaron. I've got the Dreame L20 Ultra and it really works well with clean genius and the mop pad extension. Another great thing with the third party Dreame app for Home Assistant is that it also exposes entities for each room. I've set up my Inovelli switches and a couple of Aqara mini switches to call the robot to clean that specific room/area. I think I remember that you use Zooz switches. You can use the scene buttons or multi-press options as the trigger.
@makeitworktech11 сағат бұрын
Great Scott! That's an excellent idea for each room! You clean all the kids toys off the floor, then call the robot with the button. I love it!

Freedom Units! You mean Feudal Units. There are over 195 countries in the world, and all but three of them use the metric system. These three countries - Liberia, Myanmar, and the United States - insist on utilizing the outdated imperial system. Even the British have moved on from the Imerial (Feudal) System. Every science and engineering school in the world, including the U.S.,uses the metric system. It seems like iit'stime to move on from a 1800's colonial (feudal) system.

There's no way to access the camera feed outside of the app, is there? (E.g. making it accessible to an NVR like Frigate)
@makeitworktech2 күн бұрын
No, not that I can see. Looks like only in the app and only via passcode
For that price, I'm vacuuming the place myself. I don't have that much money lying around that the wife would let me use to automate cleaning.

Hey Scott, I'm using a variable voltage power supply - its just for testing because I can test 5-24V controllers easily. Not recommended for permanent use though. Here's the (affiliate) link if you want to see the details! amzn.to/3X1WXeX

Hey Aaron - thanks for another great (inspiring) video! I’ve been re-printing my matrix enclosures after upgrading my Ender 3 to an X1C - and rebuilding the 2x2 “big a** matrix” had me thinking… “How can I get MOAR LEDs?!?” 4x4 of the 16x16 panels? You mentioned building a 2x5 array of these panels: I wanna see that build! Plus any enclosures / diffusers for the higher resolution / smaller pitch matrices (22x22 or 64x64). Keep the inspiration coming!

it is super clean but if you wanted it to look nicer sneaking 1-2U of horizontal wire management that is not very proud would hide a ton of the wire if thats the look you were interested in. sometimes the small loops like that look and work nice aesthetically also, beautiful design well done, and awesome showing people how

In fact you can even control up to 4 strips by using the CLK pins as additional data pins (reusing VCC and GND). I have done it myself and it works great. Probably you could even use the IR port to control an additional strip.
