For version 2, you need to reinforce one side so that if you want to hang an inverter, you can without worrying about the weight.

Great video, thanx!. A question, to wake a LiFeP04 24V lithium battery, can I still use start battery of 11-14.6V or I need a battery closer to 24V?

I ride a motorcycle and it has a Lithium Battery. I also have a Lithium JUMP PACK. The Jump Pack says to NOT USE ON LITHIUM BATTERIES. How do I jump start my motorcycle with its dead Lithium battery? Is it OK to just attached the JUMP PACK for a few seconds and then remove the pack and see if it will start?

You are actually telling the charger there is a battery at the other end of the cable. A 9v battery will do the same thing. The charger needs to see current even a small amount will allow the charger to start.

You should use a diode between your power supply and the battery to protect it from being back fed by the battery charger. Without the diode you may damage your power supply while trying to wake up the battery.

Not so with me; you may read my (reply to comment below); from 3.200 to 3.330 you have 130 points to id the SOC,and that is enough; i disregard all methods, except the VOLTS; of course, i correlate to the amps (in ,or out, or near 0), and then, Volts are SOC; i am so used to my 40 cells, on a 48 volt setup, all used, mix and match!!! working well for 2 years, i kind of know them all 16 arrays, one by one now.

I was following advice to condition a new LiFePO4 battery by charging it to 100% and then discharging it completely. My heart stopped for a moment when my charger wouldn't do anything, and my multimeter showed it barely had voltage. I knew the BMS was doing its job and cutting off the cells at low voltage, but this video reminded me of an old reviving trick. I never would have thought of this trick as an easy way to fool a charger and get things going again.

So... My Cerbo GX blew up. I reversed the polarity and turned it on without noticing. Upon disassembly, I discovered they have bodged this capacitor to where the protection diodes were supposed to be. It blew up, releasing lots of electrolyte on the PCB. Other PSU components, inductor and ceramic capacitor, have been blown off the PCB. It is very unfortunate that $300 device is missing the simplest protective measures, given the conditions it's supposed to operate in. A photo of an undamaged PCB would be greatly appreciated, as sending device for repair or ordering a new one is currently unfeasible :(

Just got not one, but two bad ones. 3k 48v MP2's. They have a 25Hz PWM fan rattle that sounds like an old dodge diesel motor. Horrible noise. Now I have to fight with the dealer to get them replaced. There is NO fix as its a bad motherboard, not bad fan. Victron continues to sell these with bad 25hz pwm and they know its a problem.

Good point. Basically if you have another charged 12 volt battery you connect it to the dead battery so that current is running through it so the charger sees 12ish volts and the lithium battery will wake up.

Important to put an insulator between the cells preferably epoxy fibreglass sheet as the casings are live and the thin blue plastic is not enough to be a reliable insulator

I did some tests on the efficiency of the battery charger ( a Multiplus) 12v 1600, when charging a li battery at 50 amps, measuring watts in and watts out, efficiency was only 73% ( certified instrument) which I think is poor, however the power factor was 0.998 so good for running off an inverter generator. I will test my 48V and see if it is any better. I done like wasting 25% when I am camping and charging from a Generator. So i built for comparison, a 300-watt toroidal transformer rectifies with ideal (mosfet diodes) and 8-gauge leads, this was 92% efficient 0.94 power factor unregulated but when I am camping I only use it with my 1000watt Yamaha inverter generator and I do not charge more than I need to ( solar is the main)

Great video however, as a professional pipe fitter, I have very limited knowledge of electrical circuitry and could use your advice on a project of mine. I am attempting to build a portable power supply and will be limited to complete it due to budget constraints. I have the box for equipment, a 12v 100amp LiFePO4 Battery, a charger, a few fans for cooling with thermostatic control and thanks to your video, I will be purchasing this shunt. my question is, where do those red and black cables (I assume power out) go? I am only trying to power a 12v dual zone fridge for now. Let me know. Thank you.

Good man, good job done there. However I'm slightly concerned about this kink in case the radius of bending is lower on a lower quality CCA type wires which have flooded the market. IMO I'd like to put a ferrite ring over there and wrap the cable around it achieving two goals at once: Stoppage anchor in case of pulling the wires accidently and noise filtering which is present in all electronic equipment.
