Is this the famous Laura that made this video? Very useful video, thanks. Need to get myself in gear and do my transects! I have to say, I’ve already seen more stag beetles this year than I have seen in the last few years combined when just out and about. I saw 3 flying male stag beetles in one evening a few nights ago and I’d only seen them flying on 2 separate occasions in my whole life before that

All great apes (chimp, bonobo, gorilla, orang) now have been described wading bipedally in swamp forests, often in search of food (aquatic sedges, waterlilies, fallen fruits...): that is most likely how our bipedality + vertical posture arose: early-Miocene Hominoidea already 25 Ma (mill.yrs ago) frequently waded upright in swamp (litoral?) forests + climbed arms overhead in the branches above the water. That best explains why Hominoidea (apes) became larger than other Catarrhini (monkeys), evolved longer arms, lost the external tail, evolved more centrally-placed lumbar spines & much wider bodies: broader pelvis, sternum & thorax + dorsally (instead of laterally) placed shoulder-blades for more lateral & upward arm movements. Google "aquarboreal" (aqua=water=wading, arbor=tree=climbing). See also Mario Vaneechoutte cs 2024 Nature Anthropology 2,10007 “Have we been barking up the wrong ancestral tree? Australopithecines are probably not our ancestors” open access www.sciepublish.com/article/pii/94 Modern biological & comparative-anatomical insights in hominoid=ape+human evolution, google e.g. • aquarboreal (how Mio-Pliocene “apes” evolved) • Gondwanatalks Verhaegen (English review of 2022 book in Dutch) • David Attenborough Verhaegen human waterside ape evolution

This is what I was looking for, enough with the ecodrama nonsense. This animals have sharp changes in the population periodically.

Thank you for all your excellent work! 👏 I think that your efforts and successes should be publicised more so that other people are stimulated to emulate you and actively take care of their natural environments wherever they are. You truly are gentle-men (and gentle- ladies 😊).

I have three hedgehogs n my garden they been visiting for the last two years. I provide lots of fresh drinking water in shallow dishes, feed them chicken dry kitten food and a few Calci worms. I film them too, they bring great joy to us our garden is safe and chemical free. I look after the birds and insects too. This year there is a real decline in insects I have noticed.
