I guess acre’s fine on the inside, but it’s a pain for a coop i’d planned to oil.
@CarolinaCoopsVideosКүн бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment! I do not quite understand, "fine on the inside" like inside a house or facing inside? One of the reasons we are paying much more for ACRE because of its resistance to humidity and bad weather conditions. It does not expand and contract like normal material. It would never rot, making it the best material on the market that we have found.

Arghhh. Missed your live but so glad you were back...missed Ingrid & Kristin but would rather have it than not! Also agree with you on electric cars, food allergies, & aliens. If you've never listened to Sasquatch Chronicles podcast, you should check it out...stories of sightings and very interesting!😉

ACRE isn't a green product. It's plastic. Just because China throws their primary industrial waste, rice hulls, into literally everything now doesn't make it green. :P
@CarolinaCoopsVideosКүн бұрын
Hey, thank you for the comment! I understand your point. ACRE is made in the USA. It is an American product made is Mississippi. The name ACRE refers to how it it is having a positive impact on our environment. By using ACRE we are saving Acres of forest and woodlands. It is a zero waste material that will last a lifetime. From our point of view, ACRE only has a positive impact, not only for our coops, but the environment. Again, thank you for your comment + input into the conversation!

My understanding about raw cows’ milk is that it has all the bacteria and prebiotics or whatever it is that helps the body process the lactose in it. When you pasteurize, basically boil out all the bacteria, including good, you are sanitizing too much and the milk no longer has all the elements to make it easier to digest. That is the problem with our overly sterilized mentality in modern society. People think poop is bad and the cause of sickness, i.e. the clean the coop everyday comment. Nature has a great sanitation systems built in, bacteria, fungi, etc. then we mess it up because we have to kill 99.9% of everything, Lysol mentality, and we put nature’s sanitation system out of balance.

Hello Matt, With regard to discussing other controversial topics. I think you should do a live show separate from CC so its not the company talking its just you. I think you would be a good moderator and could run a good show with interesting conversations about topics of interest. The goal would be to explore different points of view preferably from people with 1st hand knowledge of the subjects rather than just rehashing CNN vs. Fox. Thanks!

We built a Carolina Coops lookalike during lockdown (in Australia, couldn't really afford to import a real one). Next door neighbour's kid, 13, said "when I die, I want to be reincarnated as one of your chickens". Yep, living the dream I reckon.😂

Wish I had one of your coops! Maybe someday. For now we have a 12' x 21' covered run with a 6' x6' raise coop inside the run. We don't have the room to free range, so we keep it to 12 hens or less. They seem to do very well with the space we have provided.

I live in TX,and I use a fan inside the coop. And an arctic air in the run. I replenish ice in it two to three times a day, depending on how hot it is. I use an extension cord from my house to power it. It really has made a difference in their quality of living. Ice is free and the cost of two fans electric is minimal.

I partially clean my coup using a plastic pale to catch the droppings where they roost and around it and add more hemp when needed. I've been able to get two years with this method with no smells or issues. I do add some diatomaceous earth to keep the lice and mites away!

The chicken coops are not insulated, ventilation is key for keeping healthy chickens.

So as the year goes along you just add to the top with a clean layer and then rake it out in a year?
@CarolinaCoopsVideos6 күн бұрын
Yes. As the bottom layer of the hemp breaks down into a compost, you can add a thin layer on the top every now and then, and/or turn the hemp so it gets even use. And yes, you can read some of our comments, some people have gone 2+ years without changing out the hemp. After most of it has broken down into a compost you can repurpose it in your garden then simply add new hemp to your henhouse.

I’m confused. Why wouldn’t you want to pump the water up to the top of the barrel and feed water bar from the bottom. Also, I would think the pump would go on the return side of the watering bar in case the power goes out gravity still feeds the bar. Help me out brother. Love the vids!
