Good job 👍 they are really friendly and only get nervous when on land and feel threatened. In the water if you are swimming they are curious and will usually watch you. I work for the union as a cement mason and we were about to pour a road, found a baby that just hatched ( still had egg sack and egg tooth) I decided to try and take care of him until he healed with plans of releasing him in the spring. I used to have turtles all the time when I was young, so I’m familiar with them, but this guy was something else he showed an intelligence I have never seen and he was experiencing a lot he had parasites numerous eye infections, calcium deficiencies, and a prolapse. He was blind for two months. I had to hand feed him six years ago. He has a 10 foot pool in my basement that I custom-made is extremely friendly and I like taking him around and when people are curious, I just show them how nice these animals can be. They have a very bad reputation and people treat them horribly. I kind of felt for them but yeah great job man that’s really cool of you. God bless.

... Since you are requesting I can do a fishroom tour in the near future Although I really don't have much quantity in the way of tanks. right now I only have 7 Aquariums running my largest is.a 150 gallon that I've had for actually over 30 years The center brace is separating. and it's j starting to leak. ...I've made the decision to upgrade to a larger tank.My plan is.a 180 or a 210. Once I get that settled and situated is when I'll do a tour....

Thanks and thanks for watching and asking about the iceman he's Doing overall OK I think hes grown a slight bit. His red color.faded some but hes looking overall pretty solid.... I've got a tank situation where my largest tank the 150 is leaking so I am at the lookout to replace it with a 180 or a 210.then I will be doing some moves and probably getting ice man out of the current tank that hes in.... And also since you ask I think I'll do a video on him. in the next few days stay tuned.....

Thanks! yeah they have trained me well over the years to indulge them when they beg for food. In addition to that they are a naturally stocky built species.... If you mean devil's in the literal sense as in Red devil cichlids ( Amphilophus Labiatus)these are actually pure Midas cichlids ( Amphilophus Citrinellus) the often confused with historically interbred closely related species to the Red devil cichlid..... but if you mean devils as in way they have tricked me into feeding them a lot I can definitely agree with that'🙂

Is sex determination in Jaguar cichlids same as amphilophus ?

As far sex determining large Central American Cichlids and specifically. Jaguars( parachromis species) and Amphilophus what to look for by venting them (or otherwise observeing their genital papilliae) yes you are looking for the same thing .....with the males you're looking for a small thinner pointy genital papilla which it looks like ( compared to a female's)a sharp triangle ... with the female the genital papilli is thicker and wider at the base and more u shaped ....other than venting and Prior to them being sexually mature I know it can be difficult to tell. Body wise as they begin to get mature there are some characteristics such is the females will be more tounded r in the abdominal region.( notice how round in the belly this female Xiloansis is)and with jaguar The female usually retains a more Juvenile looking pattern with larger spots than the male.....

My jag's genitalia is kind of small and pointed but not like skinny..sometimes I find a kind of purplish shine but that not permanently visible...the fish is around six inches ...he has the juvenile patterns ...do you think it's a male ?

I'd have to take a look to give my opinion guess.... It could be tough at that size. What I look for is that Males have a more (for lack of a better way of saying it ) masculine heavier looking jaw line and a more pronounced ( not necessarily what you would call a hump ) thicker more bulged forehead and then the beginnings of.developing a more intricate spot pattern. Than a female would have.......

Wow what beautiful fish. I absolutely love that trimac. Crazy how fat he is! That’s my dream fish but my wife won’t let me get anything bigger than a 75 gallon for now.

Thanks for watching.... It took me a long time to get Trimac and at the same times seems like only yesterday and actually hard to believe I've had this fish for almost 7 years now. He grew pretty fast from 4 inches and within 2 years he was over a foot Hes pretty chunky I've always been somewhat of a heavy-handed feeder. If you look back at my past videos of him can see that I used to give him raw shrimp and that contributed to his thickness I believe....... You definitely need a nice size tank for one.You can get away with a 5 foot 120 gallon if you could talk your wife into that. It's just a foot longer than a 75 same width but taller.... Good luck and I hope you're able to 1 day get one. I appreciate your comment and again thanks for watching......

Just found your channel. How's the Chanco doing (you had a previous video of a juvenile)? Of your stock which do you think is most personable? I currently have some parachromis (female Jags and RTM) that run and hide whenever I come near the tank.

Thanks for watching!... Yeah a whule back there was a mix up on that fish I made the Correction. The one that I thought was a juvenile chancho was actually.my Creamcicle Amphilophus Xiloansis.... My daughter did the pick up at the 2022 ACA. and I thought Chancho is what she got until we clarified with Ken Davis.... I would say the most personable is a toss up between two of my male Amphilophus Citrinellus midas ...the lake Managua Barred and lake Nicaragua Creamcicle... Both switch from being aggressive towards me to behaving like puppy dogs and do tricks to try to get my attention when I ignore them...... It's been a while since I had Parachromis but I remember the feeling having some that would run in hide until they got used to you since they do have voracious appetite eventually they'll come around though I know it's pretty annoying until they do........

Yeah all the ones that I've identified as male have the pointy genital papilliae... 2 of them have produced fry and then all the 4 that I've identified as female's 2 have produced fry and the other 2 have laid eggs .... My Barred male just refuses to spawn with the orange female I have him with even though she's laid eggs with him present on multiple occasions.....
