Yes, they aren't favorites. I also like the original Japanese version of Ring over the American version.

Awesome. I love Tim Blake Nelson!!! The man is a gem & legendary actor. I been wanting to find another great western that can reach the level of TRUE GRIT that well, true grit by coenn bros showed. That film was perfection. From the old henry trailer, it seemed more serious toned like 3:10 to Yuma or Unforgiven. And I was hoping that it would have a little more tone balance like a coenn bros film. But I’ll take any good westerns.

I hate how cynical people are that any media just being sincere and full of heart gets panned for being too sappy.

He doesn't kill Doyle with a sling blade, he uses a lawnmower blade. Remember, the sling blade is shaped like a bananner and this is straight.

The movie was great as far as movie making and story telling goes but it was one BIG LIE. The real Billy Hayes said the whole Hollywood script as written by Oliver Stone was all made up. On his part, Oliver Stone accuses Billy Hayes of lying to him. It turns out that Billy Hayes was an experienced drug trafficker who had run drugs multiple times through JFK airport until he was finally caught. Billy admitted that he was not abused in prison and was left alone by the prisoners and Turkish guards, The Turkish judge was not corrupt and in fact it was Billy Hayes father who tried to bribe him unsuccessfully. Daddy was the corrupt one. Also, Billy was better off being caught in Turkey than in America where he would have served hard time and had a felony on his record for th rest of his life.

The reason I couldn't enjoy this movie was because there was never a chance for any protagonist. There's no fun to me in watching a movie where evil continues to win over and over again. Plus we easily see who his disciples are and whose against him. I don't know. So many rational reasons for there to be suspicion, yet those in the middle are completely oblivious to what's happening to everyone who has a sound opinion. Just didn't have the story. The setup. Or the payoff as good as the first.

The fact I find most fascinating is how all the wrestlers, except Randy and Bob, were real wrestlers (I mean, Bob was PLAYED by a real wrestler, but he wasn't playing himself).

You do see some stock footage of Pearl Harbor getting attacked. Some of that footage is horrific. Love this movie, but the soundtrack is appalling and hurts the film, would be better without a soundtrack over what they jammed in there. Am curious if some of the extras are actual sailors who volunteered to be in it.🤔

There has never been a time where I don't end up in tears at the end of this movie it left me wanting more, I know Conan the destroyer exists but it doesn't quite hit the same note as the first.

Wait wasn't the dark blue sequences also used in Aliens? Maybe it was the Blu-Ray Transfer that made it look like that. Honestly I really liked this movie because it was one of the first slasher I saw, but with the more slashers I see, the lower this one goes. There's nothing here that wasn't done better in Friday the 13th Part 4 or The Burning.

Call me a purist, but it is hard to accept it with the best ending of horror having a question that should not be answered. It would be like if Inception got a sequel. I personally do not like Halloween 2 as I don't think that there is anything about this film justifies it's existence at all. It's literally just the same verse as the first except without any build up whatsoever. It is a pointless sequel that ruins the perfect ending of the original. If you want to follow up a film that wrapped up perfectly, you need to bring something new to the table and not being an underwhelming and serviceable (aka generic) sequel.

I’m not sure who won the Oscar the year this came out but they must’ve been good because this really was his big shot at an Oscar and I feel he was robbed. This performance remains one of the most memorable for me and I’ve noticed many actors since take inspiration from these scenes. I don’t think Tom will ever have an opportunity like this again. His Oscar will probably come in the form of a Lifetime Achievement Award one day long away.

I’ve never understood the love for this movie. It’s really poorly made, and the characters are all really annoying and shallow. Sure Jason gets his Hockey mask, but that’s not enough for a good movie. It’s also goofier than part 6 or Jason X but isn’t actually funny, and definitely not scary.
@thomasffrench3639
@thomasffrench3639 2 ай бұрын
I respect this list because you are pretty good at explaining things, but this might be the most frustrating list I’ve ever seen. Part 6 is too goofy but the dark and gritty Final Chapter is below the goofiest film of the series, aside from Jason X: part 3? That doesn’t make sense to me. Part 3 also has one of the most unlikable casts, poorly made, and has that terrible 3D gimmick. But I guess the fact it’s poorly made “adds to the gritty factor” I guess. Although I respect putting part 1 at the top, as I want to like that film just based off the summary of the story, but the poor writing and pedestrian directing make it a slog for me personally. To give credit where it’s due, I wouldn’t say it’s the worst, but I understand the remake being low. It seems that people’s opinions on the remake will depend on how well regarded a person has the original 4 films. If they only like part 2 and 4, they will probably love the movie by taking what worked in part 1 and 3, and throwing out what didn’t to make a more cohesive “best of” finished product with competent filmmaking will really enjoy it. But the people who think the first 4 are excellent will just see it as a bland retread. Also part 7 is way better than part 5. Part 7 actually has horror which part 5 does not have.

I get some purists don't like this film, but I don't care, this is a horror film, and it feels like a classical 30s monster movie, which makes the series feel fresh and new after the formula was perfected with 4. Part 5 plateaued and it really showed that after making a film that was great, it was hard to replicate, they needed to shake things up and do something new.

Honestly, this seems closer to a Don't Go In the Woods sequel than a Friday the 13th movie. It just introduces characters just to kill them in the same scene, has a bunch of irrelevant, shallow characters, and is way too sleazy. I know Friday fans like their sleaze, but I want to watch a horror film, not a porno. At least some of the characters like Demon and Reggie are really fun, and starting over a chocolate bar is more ridiculous than going to space.

Hey it's the first good film of the series! Great flick. And did you just call the best cast of the series "unlikable"? Seriously the writing of these characters is excellent, and they feel like real characters with real struggles and actually feel like friends. I'm sorry, but I don't see how Jimmy and Ted are unlikable characters. You also got Sara, Sam, and the twins. They are at least better than the mediocre cast of part 1 and 3, and probably part 2, but honestly I forgot most of the characters in part 2 because aside from Ginny and Paul they are kinda forgettable.
