I had one of these back in the 80s. I didn't find it that difficult to start. No decompressor or anything. I wasn't a big guy back then probably 6' tall and only 165pounds. It was just more down to technique I think.

@CMSgarage9622 күн бұрын
@@danparker1976 Good to know. I’d try it, but I sold the bike a while ago. I’ll keep it in mind for other 2 stoke applications. Typically the bike only smoked like that when cold. Soon as I got it warmed up and on the track it would mostly clear up. A slight trail of smoke is always good though. Thanks for watching!

If you just get on eBay or Amazon and search chainsaw compression valve, a bunch will come up. They are a standard size. There is a video on KZfaq, the guy explains exactly what thread tap you’ll need to use for your head. I’ll see if I can find it, I’ll post a link.

Just because the clutch pedal is free, doesn’t mean the clutch disc isn’t rusted to the flywheel. That would be my concern. Especially if it has sat for several years. And yes, the one piece manifolds are separated internally. Actually, they wanted to use the hot exhaust to warm the intake air for better cold weather running. You have to remember the purpose of these engines. They weren’t designed for high performance. These are slow revving, low compression engines that were designed more for torque than HP. Oh, and the best way to clean those old cast iron carbs is with a baking soda or glass bead blaster.
@CMSgarage962 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information! Seems like the clutch is functioning and doing its job. When the clutch pedal is pressed the gears in the transmission stop turning.

Like I told my last 3rd date; "nice rack". Flattery will get you where you need to go :) Character & Utility. All the years I've had bugs but never one with a Roof Rack. But I've had many a struggle with trying to wedge over sized items in the back seat.That was a pretty "outstanding" Chinese packing job. I wish I could get that level of care from eBay sellers :O\ p.s. It's so funny that you can't get a plastic bag at a grocery store if your life depended on it yet we are all inundated with a plastic extravaganza in every other aspect of our lives - go figure Cheers!

I backdated my 69 dash to the earlier ones as well wanted to know where you found the radio cover and the process for adding the chrome molding trim too! Thanks buddy!
@CMSgarage963 ай бұрын
The radio block off plate I found on eBay. The block off plate comes with its chrome trim that has pre-drilled holes. The rest of the dashes chrome trim is a kit from J-Bugs.com. I had to drill my own holes in the dash for the trim clips. Just find the center up and down on the dash, measure twice and drill with a metal step bit. Side to side doesn’t matter too much because the clips slide behind the trim. I probably should have made a video on that too. Good luck with it! Thanks for watching!
