As long as it‘s my own guitar I can do everything with it I‘d like to. And if it feels better afterwards…

Lemon oil dries out your fretboard. It should not be used to condition a dry fretboard. Use a wax instead.

My old Les Paul Studio has naturally aged and there tons of micro cracks on the edges. The white finish now has a slight pinkish hue to it. 😂🤣 What’s difficult to do it to get the hardware to age like the real thing. Naturally aged hardware has a nice dull, dirt like layer of oxidisation to it. You done a very nice job 👍👍

Thanks so much. I'm actually in the process of filming a relic hardware video, trying to achieve that natural dull look. It's tricky.

Amazing work! I wanted the look of a reliced guitar once but I guess what I really wanted was for my guitar to show any wear at all with use (nearly impossible with poly). Guitarists are weird. This is great though because it's an art in and of itself!

Exactly - modern guitar finishes are so durable that it's hard to get that finish naturally. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

I use those on every guitar I own. I dont understand why boutique builders NEVER use them. They stick with standard strap buttons. THATS NUTS!! people spend thousands on a guitar and then risk it with old fashion strap buttons. If I were to ever sell a guitar those would be included. As far as rattling those people me thinks migh be a tad goofy or a bit too anal about stuff. But I have had them squeak a little as the wear over time as the slick finishes wear off.

I use the 65 system as well but I use the cleaner in the brown bottle and the actual oil. I only have to use the oil every other string change once a fretboard has been properly moisturized. I love their clear / polish spray as well and use that on all my guitars.

I'd like to have seen periodic continuity checks with an ohmmeter that has that function, to verify along the way that all of the cavities and hardware are making contact as expected. And I'd also recommend exploring copper foil tape, which comes in large sheets as well (convenient for the pickguard) and more importantly the adhesive is also conductive. Finally, it's worth noting that you can also improve the hum in single coil pickups without rewiring anything by detaching the pickups, twirling them round to twist their wires along their lengths and then reattaching them. Twisted-pair wires are essential in all mission-critical signal lines because they reject some interference.
@DevilAndSons
@DevilAndSons 7 күн бұрын
That last tip is great. Next time I make a video like this I will do those continuity tests, good idea.

Why aren’t there any guitar strap mounts that are like a circle and the strap ends are locking hooks. I think EVH used these. Seems like that would fix everything but good luck finding them .
@DevilAndSons
@DevilAndSons 7 күн бұрын
If I picture what you are saying correctly, wouldn't they come off if you lifted the guitar slightly so there wasn't any weight on the hook?
@DNYS8N
@DNYS8N 7 күн бұрын
You can see EVH is using something like this on the Human Beings official video. It’s like a J with a spring snap or arm that is closed but lets you spring it open. The tricky part is putting some kind of strap mount on the guitar for it to fasten into.

Ahh, I see. The way the font is deliberately broken in the print? I think what I did is varnish the logo, then decided to paint the gaps in to make it stand out a bit more on the yellow.then more varnish. I don't have any decals with a solid print. Anyway, I guess that's what I did, it's too long ago to remember

The Chinese Hofner does not have a zero fret, so it has a slightly longer scale, and therefore, the bridge must be taken a little further back than the German one. It is important to keep that in mind.
@DevilAndSons
@DevilAndSons 10 күн бұрын
Interesting. Normally when you don't have a zero fret you just have the nut where the zero fret is. I wonder why they change the scale length instead, and whybtheybput the bridge in the wrong place?

@@DevilAndSons You´re right. But if you mesure a Chinese Hofner, you´ll see that scale is a bit larger. Don´t know why. And if you pay attention, you´ll see that bridge is a bit further down in the Chinese Hofner than the German one.
