This is what a homemade elevator should be, but with sliding door and safety, of course. And top driven as an option.

Hi, I’m researching historic radiators in preparation for restoration of my 1937 apartament in Kaunas, Lithuania. I thought the ones I have to be of Swedish origin, but they look like the ones in your video, except for the legs - the ones I have hang from a wall. The valve mechanism looks to be identical to yours. So I assume they were made in Germany? Do you know which compamy used to make these? I’m looking at replacing some of the valves that I’m missing. I assume you reassembled your radiators for cleaning of the insides? Do you notice any difference in heating efficiency? How are the seals holding up? Great video, thanks.
@histortech6442 Жыл бұрын
Hello, yes, they were made in Germany by the Ideal Werke from the early 30s to later. The seals work fine. Yes, the radiator collumns can be cleaned inside and outside better sand blasted, but it presupposes, that you can deassemble the radiator, its hard work and not always succsessful. I´ve made a simple tool out of massive iron, it is ample for some works, then is has to be made new. Kind regards, Bernhard

I'm going to build one of these for 1 star rated hotel in Chinatown NYC to fix up and make it better. With it looking like a building elevator and even the sliding doors. The is going to Top Driven, six steel ropes (is that safe for the car?) To the counterweight and the car. 6 stories (basement can't be accessed to). Led Light, House Fan, emergency light, indicator, floor buttons and door open and alarm button, it does have a phone like every elevator but it's in the box type. The call button call the elevator on the floor You're on not enough and down with a door open button because it's manual not automatic door opening. Safety check for the saying it will be in a beta testing for safety. 4 passengers, 1 handicap, and 2 disabled people.

I am 99.9% sure building a homemade elevator for passenger use outside of a home in the United States would be illegal.

So many "pros" in the comment section. I think your elevator is fantastic and you did a wonderful job assembling it. It works the way you intended it to, just as you built it. Don't change a thing. You sir are a god among men.

Sir I could´t understand the curcuit daigram in part 13 so please could you please show detailed wiring curcuit daigram..want build one like you did.thanks !
@histortech64426 жыл бұрын
Dear Sir, The diagram isn`t visible very well, I can send you copies if you name me an email address. But: Back then I`ve only made principle diagrams as results of my thinking about the direction (up/down) logics. The controller is made up of 4 relays for the direction and as call relays, 4 blocking relays and the micro switches on the floor selector, that too are for blocking and direction logic and switch the stop.

I strongly advise using a 2-speed control system, or even a variable speed drive for your comfort and for increasing the energy efficiency, thus lowering electric bill cost. If you'd like, I could help you to design such system.

@histelek9 жыл бұрын
Barbara Duvall The total costs were about 3000€ for the raw materials, the work was my own time- 4 months fulltime. E.g. the machine I purchased for 150€, all the iron parts have been around 1500€, the deflection sheaves 350€, the ropes 245€, etc. The plans are only some hand-drawings, you see them along the way in the other videos
