What this does is shut down any bridge building between theists, scientific discovery, and factual / evidentiary discovery. And this malevolence towards any theist erects barriers, instead of building bridges. Someday soon, I hope Dan McClellan @maklelan, #maklelan will be able to sit down with R' Sacks, or one of the leaders of Jews for Judaism, and really discuss the enormous problems with the mythology of many of the biblical narratives, e.g., Noah and the flood, the Exodus, and the immorality of the Hebrew Bible, e.g., perpetual ownership of non-Jewish slaves, the permissive ideas of "the God of Israel", that in the biblical narratives justifies the destruction, ransacking, and the genocide of entire communities as 'the Israelites' move towards the capture of Canaan, and then the genocidal attacks of neighboring nations except for the young and beautiful female virgins.
