This is what I was looking for the past 5 years... This is way better than Figma for first sketch ideas. I usually use the "Pen and Paper" method on a Wacom drawing tablet, will give this software a try.

Which come first sitemap or IA ?
@balsamiq
@balsamiq Ай бұрын
Hi Chyon! In our experience, IA comes first. As Donna says, it's actually the hard part! The video shows different techniques for getting to your website or app structure. Then, sitemaps are created to give a visual representation of your IA. We hope this helps! Let us know if you have more questions.

Hi, Thank you so much for tutorial. I am learning a lot. However, I am facing issue with grouping. Particularly with small rectangle containing text I am not able to group them. Any suggestions. I do select the rectangle and text but it is so small and when I click on Cntrl+G and then try to duplicate it only the rectangle gets pasted or text.

7:33 why did u go down instead of across. Page1 leads across to page2, but page leads DOWN to page 3. Why? Is this necessary when laying out a sit in Balsamiq?
@balsamiq
@balsamiq 4 ай бұрын
In our low-fidelity wireframing tool, we prioritize early-stage ideation focusing on content and structure rather than polished design. Billy has laid out the pages vertically to represent the raw Information Architecture of the app, where going down indicates moving to a deeper level in the hierarchy (that he designed with the sticky notes). Although the comment mentions a lateral movement from Page 1 to Page 2 and then downward to Page 3, in reality, Page 2 leads down to a sub-level, not directly to Page 3. Page 3 would represent the cart. This approach allows us to define the architecture of the project effectively while maintaining flexibility in layout and navigation. So there's no hard and fast rule about this - you can do whatever makes sense to you (and your project).

2:32 how did you create the user flow? Can Balsamiq be used to create this drawing?? This is an absolute beginner course, so you should explain what you used to create each screen in the tutorial. Also, clearly there are semantics to the symbols but you dont explain what they are.
@balsamiq
@balsamiq 4 ай бұрын
Yes, Billy used Balsamiq to create the user flow :) You can create yours using our template (called "User Flow") as a starting point. A quick way to find it is to search for it in the "Quick Add" field. We understand that some concepts or features (like Symbols) might require more details as you get familiar with them. Would you mind reaching out via [email protected] with your questions? We'll do everything we can to help!

I am using Version 4.7.3 of Balsamiq Wireframes on Windows. The menu/heading structure is very different. For example the hamburger menu icon is missing. What version are you using? Do the differences reflect Windows vs Mac, Version 4 vs earlier, e.g WIreframes vs Mockups, or some setting I'm missing? Is there an evolutionary document describing the changes going into my version from previous?

Hi Max, you're right. This course uses an older version of Balsamiq. We are in the process of updating it to show the current version of Balsamiq Wireframes. In the meantime, here is our documentation on what's new in the current version - balsamiq.com/wireframes/desktop/docs/intro/#what-s-new-in-balsamiq-wireframes-for-desktop. Hope this helps, -Leon
