Doesn't matter so long as it works. but if your not perfect with your mesurements and calculations you might have a gap or be forced to try to shrink the lagging wich will often cause a section with air bubble /( unbonded lagging to pulley) Easier and safer to ride a few inches of rubber over a gradual bevel then cut and buff the extra. But if you can line it but to put perfectly then awesome good job! Do you seal the but seam ? Of so what do you use?

@@derekleblanc571 Hi Derek, We use a similar method to do our drums. We lay the rubber to a 15mm overlap from our measurement to allow for mistakes, once glued and stuck up to the last edge we will take a mark and trim the edge to within a 2-3mm overlap using a small shim on the underside to prevent premature sticking, we then lay the rubber in and stitch away any bubbles while the glue is tacky. We do this method to allow for multi directional travel and if it is in a harsh environment will seal it with a 2 part rubber mixture. I can say from our experience over the last 10 years failure due to the butt join of the lagging has not once been an issue. I do enjoy seeing other methods so of you have any tips id be glad to hear them.

@@alex86902 interesting technique kind of the best of both worlds. I like it. And that 2 part rubber mixture is probably the tire repair compound wich works awesome. Thankyou for the share.

I always use the following "formula" : (Pi * Diameter) - (2/3 of the diameter/width of the material I use for welding the seam)

Pulley diameter x 3.14, + rubber thickness eg. 12mm rubber, (3.14 x dia) + 12 = req ^length^. Face width x length = amount needed to cover.
