Just bought a 530 xcw after riding almost every XR growing up until they quit getting bigger and newer. Now Im hanging up the BRP. Well going to restore it actually. Definitely missing that tractor factor of the XR but the KTM 530 is a smooth ride. I'm getting older and the the XR has left me tired and beat up lately. I thought it was just the riding but turns out it was my favorite bike. The KTM is much nicer and easier to move around. What they need is a 650r engine in a KTM frame!

I own a minty tuned up XR650R. Thing is a monster. I’ll never sell it. The high speed off-road capability of that thing is crazy. It’s so stable and comfortable accelerating to and going 65-90mph. I’m also going to be purchasing a KTM 500 or Husky 501 this month to have a lighter bike. (Although the XR handles single track just fine.). Amazing torque and versatility in a bike that’s as light as a motocross bikes.

The FE570 is/was an excellent contender aswell.

There's nothing like the XR650R! Best value for the money, and in many cases, best value period! Strong and reliable beasts! Perfect for what Africa throws at you. I have 2 from 2003 and I'll eat my helmet if there are KTM500s around making people happy in 18 years time, but I'll guarantee my XRR will be (assuming we still find parts!) Cheers

I have the seat concepts comfort tall on my 2017 FE501. Traveled through 4 countries with that seat and its been awesome. What about fuel consumption? The 501 manages 20km/l on adventure trips, I expect your XRR might see 15km/l?

I had one new 20yrs ago,biggest mistake I made was selling it! Fast forward to 2020 I bought one back this one was a wreck I’ve made a channel of me restoring it , I’m recreating my original one down to every detail . Check it out on “ old dirt bikes Xr650r “ 😀
