Probably my favourite detail in the entirety of death note was the scrap of paper hidden inside Lights watch. The fact that within three minutes Light regained his memory then killed Higuchi is incredible

The first time L & Light interacted was the sole denominator in L suspecting Light. From this moment onwards, He knew Light was Kira.

Light's plan was genius, but losing Rem was actually a giant error. Rem was his trump card, his ace in the hole against anyone trying to interfere with him in the future. Near, Mello, the SPK would have been destroyed by Rem, and there would have been nothing they could do to stop it. If I were in Light's position, I would have just had Rem kill L with the instruction he clear Misa and myself, close the case, and disband the taskforce, erase all data, etc. Then, one by one, everyone dies, including, sadly, Light's dad, through accidents, self deceasement, etc. Rem wouldn't have died under those circumstances, and if any other task forces started nosing around, who better to eliminate them than an invisible being that can see their names just by looking at their faces, walk through walls, etc.? Kira wins forever. And, what's more, who's to say that Rem wouldn't keep killing criminals in honor of Misa and Light's memory after they died? Stopping Light and Misa on their own was hard, but stopping an actual shinigami is pretty much impossible. From a writer's perspective, I get why Rem had to go though. Her presence made it almost impossible for Light to lose as long as she loved Misa, and as long as Misa loved him, and an invincible protagonist ruins the story.

Imo the author had to make light do these dumb things otherwise he could never have been caught, imagine if this power existed IRL, nobody could get the one who got a death note

Light threw away everything at number 2. I strongly believe that if Light didn’t kill that criminal on live TV and focused on criminals outside Japan too, he would have gotten away with it.

Light actually was killing criminals outside of Japan. He was killing criminals across the world. It jut so happens that the first criminal he killed was in Japan and was killed on a live broadcast that only aired in Japan.

@@clueanalysis2596 when people look at events where someone didn’t know something, they find that they themselves could find the unknown thing out easily when in reality they typically could not hence the name hindsight as you’re looking back at a event and bias as you have bias towards yourself as we overestimate ourselves. If my explanation is dissatisfactory then search up hindsight bias as it is a really interesting psychology topic.

I'm going to put this out there, I think the TV broadcast (your number 2) was actually one of L's dumbest moments. Don't get me wrong, the way he used the broadcast to narrow down Kira's location was genius. It was the bragging afterwards that was dumb. Imagine if he had narrowed down Kira's location to a specific region of Japan and kept it to himself. Kira would now think that the best detective in the world, probably the only person who could could catch him, was now dead. This would make him over confident and less likely to proceed with caution. A few more clever deductions / traps and L would have him.
@clueanalysis2596
@clueanalysis2596 11 күн бұрын
I think L bragged afterwards because he was attempting to get Kira to make more moves against him, which he did. If L had already assumed Kira might be a student, then L bragging afterwards isn't as bad, because he assumes Kira can't just run away. It was done to attempt to get more clues although I do agree, it could've backfired on him.

The biggest problem is that light always uses heart attacks as a cause of death, you could differentiate the causes of death to make it sound natural if that is a fitting death cause of course, and also times of death, leave a gap of time between your kills, don't always go get as much as possible, I think the constant heart attack deaths and frequent kills are the reason why Kira was even found and discovered. The secret notes written by the prisoners before they died also contributed to the discovery, Light might be the smartest one, but not always he considers logic. These traces are really easy to catch onto. Do consider the bait, that would be a really good strategy, except for those who really don't care and aren't afraid to die. Manipulation with Kira is really easy to do. Like he did with Penber, he worked his way around to get his ID and name.
@clueanalysis2596
@clueanalysis2596 11 күн бұрын
Light kind of wanted to be discover. He wanted to be seen as a God, which is why he used the default killing method, the heart attack, so there would be a pattern and people would catch on. Light even says that even an idiot would eventually realize what's happening. The problem is, Light should've tested the death notes abilities before going on a killing spree. He should've been patient and practiced with his new weapon before aiming it every which way. A lot of the decisions he makes in the series following the live television broadcast is Light attempting to get close to L.

Light made a mistake at the end the same exact way as he did at the beginning. Light let his ego control him instead of being careful for his mission. It is what makes Kira evil. He killed Lind L Taylor and gave away his existence and position to the world. And now, he played into Near’s hands just to laugh at his face when he dies. Light had all cards in the world: he could create zealous mobs of obsessive murderous faith, puppeteer any known man of great power to his will, concoct unpredictable plans to initiate a world from him and at the throat of his enemies, and use everything Near could never know about Kira against him. He even predicted nearly every part of Near’s trap. Switching the real book with a fake, baiting the second Kira to kill everyone but his savior, Kira hinging everything on Mikami, every signal that Near was looking for was given for free: all because Light thought he counteract all of that without anyone noticing with a single plan. He went on to set off the trap before assuring it is disarmed. He assumed fate was already on his side and underestimated Near to the very end.
