I think people were alot shorter back then. The man they found was only 5ft 4 so it may have been a tad more headspace for them than people now maybe...lol.

Starboard is considered the superior side, probably due to being open to the stars, quiet, private, and more secure, compared with the portside when at dock. Sheltered from the noise, stink, chaos, and chance of explosive attack to the cabin, from dockside.

Nice find. I took a tour of the Wisconsin back in 88 when I was in the Navy waiting to head out to sea on the Eisenhower. I need to see her again, nice tour back in the day and I’m sure this will be a good tour as well.

I've been on the NC twice. The access to a lot of areas is awesome. You can take your time going though it at your own pace.

I wonder, since the North Carolina was getting scavenged when it was in mothball, and they had to scavange parts from ships being scraped to replace the parts that had been scavenged from the NC, if they ever came across a part that originated on the NC. Maybe even after another part and someone told them, hey you might be interested in this, it actually came from th NC.

I'm glad he spoke of the controversy re: which ship it actually is, because when I was a kid and would visit it, we were always told that it was the frigate. Decades later, I brought my kids there when we were on vacation, and was confused to find that it was not the same ship I thought it was, and there was no real explanation given.

To answer your question , no absolutely not . No wood on any modern ship period . Maybe some internal appointments for esthetics but I'm pretty sure an aircraft carrier , or any ship doesnt have wood . The fact he was like "i dont know what they're doing today" ... laughable . Good video tho 👌

I toured the USS Torsk many years ago. I enjoyed this video much more than the actual tour, because during the tour I felt an overwhelming sense of claustrophobia. I truly couldn't get out of that sub fast enough. And the claustrophobia has stayed with me to this day. It took a strong, brave person to be a submariner and we all should be thankful for those who "stepped up to the plate".
