Wetting my hair works for me as well. It also holds better. When i put product on dry hair, it goes all over the place and flyaways are everywhere... yuck! My hair is long by the way.

I use gel, paste, and hairspray. The problem is that if you work around many people/coworkers, they can smell all that, so I try to find fragrance-free hair products.

Thisone might be a bit of a classy aproach of them on pomades. I really can give you the advice, try JS SLOANE Caviar Matte Clay, my absolute Favorite, and maybe also JS SLOANE Matte Cream (this one I use as pre-styler or if I make my hair really quick, it is super easy to work in, but gets a good grip later) The Reuzel Extreme Hold Matte Pomade is also extremely good (silver / grey bottle) Cheers! Yes, is Pinaud Clubman Gels alot and the get the job done! I feel a lot more comfortable using those gels, because they are alcohol free.

Not only do I hate it when a gel type product has a high hold, I still find these little tiny stray hairs and not only does it look weird (to me anyway) it feels weird too! And you can't really restyle it.

I use the original hold one, and that is MUCH BETTER than the firme hold. MUCH MUCH better. And the scent isn't as potent either. And applies a hell of a lot nicer too.

I just love this stuff! I use it on a daily basis, especially in the winter when it warms back up, my hair likes to not cooperate, and this is the first hair product I tried when I got into slicking my hair back! It has a nice smell to it and I just can't get enough of it! I do wash my hair out once in the morning and evening, so I will probably not succumb to the negative effects of alcohol in my hair drying it out.

I have used the American Crew Firm Hold Gel for the longest time this summer, I slick my hair back, it did okay, it didn't feel heavy compared to my other products I had, but in the general run of things, it was really not that good when I look back on it. It hardened up very hard as you said, and I would also find these little tiny stray hairs poking out, and you really can't restyle it unless you rinse it out.

Well, I usually gravitate towards water-based pomades out of a personal preference, and this one really did it for me! The smell is amazing and I knew it would be great from the start. If I don't use something that will harden up my hair, it will make it feel gooey and greasy (not the good kind) and it will be all over the place.
