Some people think being an agnostic-“I don’t know and I don’t think anyone else does or can” is being a cop out. The believer will say you need God but you just aren’t willing to except Him and let go of your selfish desires. Or something to that effect. The non-believer will say you just aren’t brave enough to admit the truth to yourself that there is no god. Or something to that effect. Both are leaps of faith and both are beliefs and both are unprovable. If there’s one thing humans should understand by now it’s that all we are are creatures of belief. Beliefs are just that: Beliefs. Believing something doesn’t make it true or untrue. It only makes it the reality that you create for yourself. If it’s true for you, then it’s true. What agnosticism says is literally “I don’t believe one way or the other because I have no way of knowing”. And it’s my “belief” (sarcasm intended) that that is the only honest answer a grown adult can have.

Well, either Ron White lied, or his memory is going bad. There has never been a Dr. Charles Pollard who was president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Frank Pollard was one of six nominees for the Convention presidency and finished second in the balloting. As for Dr. Pollard not having anything to do with the Southern Baptist Convention, he apparently suffered from Parkinson's Disease in the last years of his life; the illness is debilitating, so he would have been able to do much in any capacity. Dr. Pollard was the speaker on the Baptist Hour for 20 years. IO guess my question is: what if Ron White's interpretation of life and living are wrong. What if there IS a place of separation from God, and what if Ron White rejects his opportunities to join Dr. Pollard in Heaven?

Admitting that you "don't know" is not a strictly Agnostic viewpoint. I identify as a Christian, but I will tell you straight up I DON'T KNOW. That is why it's called faith. It is what you believe, no what you know. As Ron said, anybody that claims to know is lying.

Hello- I decided to tell you how I believe. Not trying to convert or argue with people, but this show is all about opinions and I thought I would share! I believe in a LIVING and moving God. I believe His spirit is on this earth and that anyone- anyone from any background, in any location, if they cry out in truth, honesty, and consistency to meet Him, will find Him. There is a whole youtube channel dedicated to testimonies of people who left other religions and came to Christianity through all kinds of wild and weird ways. I have heard former Muslims say that they started having dreams about Jesus and started praying to Him, and now are converted. So the culture, country, time in history makes no matter. If someone seeks- they will find. And as far as hell being fair... First- there is contention over the definition of Hell. Many Christians believe you burn forever, but more educated ones believe you are only punished in accordance to your sin, and some will be punished less, and after punishment, will be no more. The true death of non-existence. And some, like me, while I do not know how Hell works, hope that after a 'just and fair' punishment by God- the only one who can know what is truely fair- will hopefully, have a way or place for those who did not decide to serve Him when they were in their human life on earth. All I know is I trust God to do what is best for everyone. Whatever Hell is, the only 2 things I know for sure is that 1. Hell will be the absence of God, and all good things God created, such as spiritual peace and love, will not be there. and 2. I want to be where God is. I have had enough experience with the Holy Spirit and what it feels like when God touches your spirit. It is like a live wire shoots through you. Afterwards there is so much joy it is hard to explain. It feels like you had a bath on the inside- don't know how else to say it. And that is nothing compared to what it will be like when we leave our physical bodies and can truely meet him face to face!

My philosophy is that nobody has had an encounter with the "almighty". The truth is that everything man believes to "know" about a supreme being is a figment of his imagination. To say you know god is equal parts hopium and conceit.

I have had an encounter with the almighty. My shoulders were worn out and I was having chest pains almost hourly. I was certain that death was going to happen soon. I decided to just live out the little I had left since there was point in doing anything else. About a week later God showed up. It has been 18 years and no more chest pains and my shoulders are fine. May God show up for you when you need him.

Walter, I am happy that your health has improved. That you ascribe it to divine intervention seems a leap of faith to me, not being a witness to events preceding and subsequent to your recovery. I suppose if I knew a lung cancer patient with one lung removed and the other so degraded that he was confined to his death bed, and I awoke one day to find him on his feet with both lungs fully restored, bounding up and down the hospital stairs, I might believe a god had intervened. I have heard many stories of faith following good fortune but have yet to hear that one truly unbelievable tale to instill in me a belief in a proactive supreme being. What I have heard are tales from obscure locations of heavenly visions witnessed only by the teller of the tale. These stories have much in common with UFO abduction tales and I believe neither. In 12 years of Catholic education I was told that god was all powerful and merciful, and he wants me to believe in his existence. An omnipotent god could easily appear to all men unambiguously declaring his existence, yet he chooses to appear in darkened rooms in the middle of the night or remote locations, to less than credible witnesses. I do not deny the existence of a "god" and I admit to the unlikely possibility that you have found the absolute truth in the matter, but I trust the scientific facts that refute scriptural descriptions of our existence. If we are made in his image then he is imperfect, as we are surely flawed, in our construction and our performance. You might say it's a mystery or it's gods will, but that is an argument with no proof. Father Markos, my senior year religion teacher, probably sensing our waning faith, taught us the theory of causality. He posed the questions and objections to faith, working back to the big one, where did we come from? When he had gone as far as possible he said the answer is we came from god. Trouble is, when believers make this argument they aren't just talking about the concept of god, they are talking about their god. There is a wide gulf between the question and answer and his lesson built no bridge to span it. Perhaps if he didn't always punctuate his proofs with the same tagline, "If you don't see the truth in that, you might as well just blow your brains out". Guess he really thought we were lost causes. Whatever caused existence is still a total mystery to us and will probably remain so forever, if it gives comfort to you to believe, so be it. The brain I was given won't let me accept the tales told, after all, the people who first told those stories also told me about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. BTW, if you want to see examples of religious lies read about Scientology, or watch Leah Remini on A&E. Joseph Smith's cult is also a good story to promote a cautionary stance on religion. Christopher Hitchens would be too strong for you, though he makes excellent sense.

That brings us back to personal philosophy and personal experience. I appreciate the time it must have taken you to type your response especially when I consider how brief and incomplete mine tend to be. I have been watching the series exposing scientology for what it is as I have the chance to see it and Koolaid will never be the same. We actually serve it at our visitors center- I always cringe just a little bit when I think of the irony. Who is Christopher Hitchens? I can look him up. My experience is mine and it definitely is personal. You would have had to have been there so I can understand you grouping it in with alien abduction. Thank you John and may life be kind to you.

you know what i found, it is a lot easier to be anything when you have cash flow, ask someone without cash flow and life looks a lot different. so the smart guys are the ones who are happy without cash flow. your reason for being is very different. if i was to say anything, it would be those without cash have the best chance of finding heaven. it was real because we couldn't afford it to be anything else. i hear it is very hot, odds are good you will find out. just base on what you say, nothing more. it has to matter what we do or the place is pointless...

2 walking, talking angels. they appeared in front of me. they also brought a movie screen or tv like thing, yet there was no hardware and the two guys were lit from the inside, in my dark bedroom. the first time scared the crap out of me, to the point i froze in fear and shock. the second time not much better, by the 5th or so time i was able and somewhat willing to hear them out. they showed me terrible things and said it is about to happen to the world. they showed me much of america and the hell to come. a rapture to save the chosen few. SO HELP ME GOD I TELL THE TRUTH. IT REALLY HAPPENED AND IT HAS FOREVER CHANGED MY LIFE AND THE WAY I VIEW THINGS. The bible played out until the last word. that is what i saw...

and no, they are not aliens, in fact, next alien you see, anyone reading this, just say Jesus name and watch what happens. they, the aliens, are the fallen, they were placed here before adam and eve, they gave us most of the tech we use today, what they didn't give was given by the angels, like the two i met. it all depends on who you are dealing with as to who shows up, good guys or bad guys...once again, so help me GOD i bring the truth as i have been told or shown. the end is here. there is another 1000 years yet on earth after this last great war. we have to get a few people removed first, those who don't believe and their offspring. a bunch are leaving and not returning. all the rich and famous, all of them, gone!!! they know what i tell you now. each one of them met with the evil one and cut a deal. it was a raw deal. they knew the cost, now it is time to pay what is owed. much sadness will find us all shorty. a mark (chip) will be forced on everyone. every last member of all world governments and even your local gov know they deal, they took the deal also on some level. the evil one came to me when i was 17 and offered the world to me, i turned it down. i am 52 now. ready yourself, the time has come. pray, it is your only hope. so help me GOD, he (GOD) hears every single word you say, talk to him today....
