Well they fighting a big ass dragon that its moving constantly and they trying to figure out where to shoot while on stress and limited ammunition and trying to not get hit in the proccess and civilian lifes at risk xd So yeah tukas helps of making them notice the remaining eye of the dragon being the only area to shoot (that i presume they tought if it had both eyes, would been harder to stun the dragon to have the oportunity to shoot the panzerfaust 3) xD So yeah, they would probably figured it out eventually but more civilian lifes could had been lost if the dragon lost interest in the jsdf soldiers

It didn't make that much sense to me. I mean, they live in a world with elves, dark elves and catpeople. These folks traditionally see somewhere between pretty well and perfectly well in the dark. If you're going to assemble a combined army of 100K soldiers, wouldn't you hire a few dozen of these see-in-the-dark races to act as night lookouts? And wouldn't you assume that any enemy you faced was doing the same?

It's so good I've rewatch/reread this anime/manga several times, the manga still on going, I'm a little disappointed that they cut out a lot of content and focus on the empire, and the censorship (it's quite graphic in both sexual and violence so, understandable) but overall the anime itself is very good for it's time, if you're a military tactics nerds, you're gonna have a field day watching/reading

4:10 This could have been a sobering, depressing moment about the reality of the situation and a reflection on the amount of death happening around him, but instead they animated the "crazy laugh" for basically no reason, and because humanizing the enemy by giving him emotions is a concept that this anime doesn't seem to grasp.

The latest battles in the manga was quite exciting, it literally turned in guerilla warfare and the enemy slowly gaining knowledge to still inflict damages to the JDSF.

The battle also highlights how JDSF is constrained by their lack of strategic weapons. They don't have spy planes or UAVs to survey the isekai efficiently, and they don't have anything on the order of cruise missiles or theater ballistic missiles to strike logistical or economic centers. Otherwise, they could have followed the imperialism playbook by destroying local government in one fell swoop then replace it with a colonial administration or puppet regime to pave the way for economic exploitation.
