How many purchasers of new Ferrari’s “know about a real driving experience”? Get real buddy, most Ferrari’s are bought by non-enthusiasts drivers, rather more enthusiast of wealth and pomp. The odometers tell that story very well. Remember, the old man let Materazzi go, after he created the F40, arguably one of the finest “racers for the road” in history. To that end, the Testarossa remains an icon of the 80’s, with an exhaust note to match the extreme looks. The fact that it would be left for dead, on a twisty road by a modern Civic Type R is to miss the point, it’s still a wonderful GT car and commands respect even on the streets of Monaco. Modern Ferrari’s handle infinitely better, but few have the character and soul of the classic Ferrari’s.

@@user-qn6yt3zx3w I’ve 9000km in my F40in 18 months, many more in 355’s and have been allowed to drive many more both classic and newer ever since. But, yes largely now owned by the look at me brigade! I met many at my local Ferrari dealership relaunch and I was surrounded by vulgarians! The F40, as you intimate, still remains a halo car for them and I count myself extremely fortunate to have owned one.

That's a pretty common fault that both older and modern cars often throw though and doesn't necessarily mean that either of them are actually faulty or have tried to deploy, usually just a connector problem that can be fixed with a jiggle or could be as simple as a bit of moisture that slightly altered the resistance around the pretensioner.

@@Roger__Wilco it's not a fault I'd expect to see in a top tier luxury vehicle.

Rolls Royce is a premium marque but doesn't have magical unique pretentioners and airbags and connections that are immune from the same basic problems that you see in other cars. Either way, to assume it's caused by a crash would be a bit weird in this case. Does it make sense that he'd restore the car after that without clearing this fault?
