Thank you for specifying in the end. Parrots really are not easy at all in any shape or form to deal with. First it takes a long time and a lot of effort to gain their trust and they are moody 24/7 you will never be able to make them do things like you could with dogs.

I loved seeing the story of Derpla!! I'm starting to look for a caique myself. Don't worry, I have 20+ years of bird experience with everything from parakeets to African Greys. My birdhouse currently has an almost 24 year old Senegal (Woodstock), a 20 year old GCC (Ozzy), & an almost 20 year old CAG (Sherlock). I've had all of them since they were babies (4-6 months old). My daughter refers to them as her older brothers with feathers.

Beautiful birds, I just don't get why people give their pets plastic toys, are you not aware any food, water in plastic is no good for them. Then all the petrochemical synthetic toys that can not be broken down inside a body any body be it, lion, cat, bird pig etc. The slowly ingest this stuff and it eventually causes cancers, hormone problems, development issues, the list is long and not pretty. As a consumer we can influence the market with what we buy. Bedding and chew toys are a major issue. Please think about it. At least do 10 minutes research on what these chemicals do. Even plastic bottled water effects the water.
