Incredible video. Thanks so much. Who knows when or whether again this truly historic airframe will be stripped to this bare state. I loved the soundtrack too!

Molins were a manufacturer of a cigarette dispensing machine, they were asked if they could upscale it to load a cannon, and yes they could ! incredible...apparently when fired the aircraft slowed by 20mph!

Imagine the muzzle energy of this round being fired from an aircraft travelling at 300 mph plus !

Pointless exercise ……

That depends on your perspective. The airfield was built on farm land that was property of the local farm and 'borrowed' by the MOD for emergency use during WW2. When the MOD no longer needed the airfield, they handed the land back to the farm that it belonged to. The tower stood out into the field and farmer wanted his field back to crow crops. An abandoned control tower is no use as an agricultural buliding If you are in the business of demolition and someone contracts you for a job, it's not pointless if you are getting paid to do that job. The tower was of no importance back then, there were literally hundreds of them scattered across the UK at the time. The demolition rubble from the tower was used as hardcore for new building projects in the local area. One could argue that you making that comment or me responding to your comment is a pointless exercise, it's just a matter of perspective.
@terryhalford3549 Жыл бұрын
@@joeslacks I think you will find the land was a compulsory purchase and the farmers or land owners were paid on average £20 per acre plus they were allowed to still farm the land some still planting crops up to the runways yea the buildings were handed back after hostilities finish but these could be sold back to the MOD especially if they wanted the hardcore etc for the building of motorways etc you only have to look at the destruction caused by the St Ives and gravel company. I thought it would have been more profitable to have destroyed the tower with machinery instead of the pointless charade which was the attempted demolition by explosives.

I just primed the Revell 1/48 p51. Compared to Eduard and Tamiya, Revell sucks-cockpit detail etc. Youd expect more from 1 of the oldest company's around. Great build btw.

There is a wingless fuse of a P-51 named, "Big Beautiful Doll", at a small airfield in Auburn WA. It may be a museum restoration, or a renamed plane getting a second life. I don't think the aircraft at the airport there was never as damaged as the one in this video. I guess I'll have to get some pictures to post..

That plane did to much for our country for a pilot to eject out of it. That pilot should have gone down with her.. 😔 The doll should have been in a museum, they shouldn’t be flying 100 year old historical planes.

They had no business flying an old ass plane like that. We supposed to pass these things down to the next generation, but man wanna have fun. Now its lost to history. "Great" job assholes.

When ever I think of the p51, big beautiful doll is always first to pop up, ide say it was my favorite p51 and it’s just so iconic to me and every time I see a model kit it’s always got that same livery. May that plane go down in history!

Watch Seagull racing around Bermuda....!
@jonathansimmonds57842 жыл бұрын
It's called the throttle, open the fecking thing!! And why are you constantly playing with the choke? Of course the main problem you've got that any self respecting Seagull owner will spot immediately is it's too deep in the water causing too much exhaust resistance.... Been running Seagulls for over 40 years, got 5 of them, Featherweight to Silver Century, long and short, brilliant motors, in the right hands.
