Opie totally has it wrong about why he hated Don and Mike, acting like Don and Mike started it. Opie was threatened by Don and Mike because D&M were a proven successful afternoon show being broadcast in tape delay on WNEW after O&A. D&M wanted to be live in NYC and kept talking about how they were promised they would be live by Ken. Im sure it was originally planned to move O&A out like every other show that was their before Ken. This put Opie on the offensive. Don and Mike actually quit WNEW and agreed to move to middays so they could be live in NYC. They were fine with the move, but O&A still went at them and attacked their show. The bad blood didnt start with the midday move, but it should have ended with it. Don even went on air and point blank said they would help O&A with their ratings in Washington if O&A would show them support in NYC and Opie still bashed them. CBS had a potential major hit of a talk show network, but 3 of the 4 shows hated each other (Howard, Don and Mike, and Opie and Anthony). Everyone loved Ron and Fez though.
