I learned that the reason why none of my gear was equipped was because I equipped the Ice Suit. The game says that equipping the suits (which are only equippable at a certain area) removes your gear, but I didn't realize it meant ALL your gear, I thought it just meant whatever Suit you had previously. From now on I do make sure to re-equip everything after I change suits.

That's because this level is actually an early version of one that is used in Missing Stars. It's comparatively barebones, but it still is the same level.

@@Eviled yeah, originally I didn't know how to switch the font but turns out it was very easy and I was just being stupid. The game download comes with the better font pre installed, but you have to install it a second time within the game's folder for it to be actually used in game instead of the crappy default one. I wish I had figured that out earlier but from now on it'll be actually readable

Have you tried installing the proper fonts for RPG Maker 2003? You can easily find them on Google. Simply installing them should change the font of the game to a more coherent one.

It's the menu for Retroarch, which is used by the "Parallel Launcher" emulator. Id highly recommend using Parallel Launcher for Mario 64 ROM hacks, just because of how easy it makes playing them.

The sprites are from Superstar Saga and a lot of the music is from Super Mario RPG, so that might be why
