❤ maybe take her a food allergy testing for most foods so that maybe one day she can eat soft simple cooked food like basic boiled chicken. Maybe do allergy test for salmon or any fish and also yogurt. Yogurt is great for gut health. We asked my mother-in-law to look after our mini dachshund for a week. We tried to warn her of some of Lilly’s tricks and idiosyncrasies. She wouldn’t have it, told us she was a darling little angel who could no wrong. She was the happiest dog we’ve ever owned. In the 15 1/2 years we had her her tail never stopped wagging. We arrived home a week later, walked through the front door, first words we heard were she is an absolute rat bag. Despite the warnings, she got hold of a pack of 6 toilet rolls and decided to redecorate the bathroom, hall and a couple of bedrooms. MIL got her clothes ready, went into the shower, came out to find Lilly had some new chew toys and ran off down the hallway with a blouse in her mouth, tail going at a hundred miles an hour. Numerous other stunts and mischief. What can I say, we tried to tell her. There’s an old saying, silence is golden…..unless you own a dachshund 😊

I'm sorry but serious question: how on earth did you have the time to take her out every 30 mins if you had a full time job and have to be AWAY for 8-10 hours of the day??? Unless you live and mom and dads house and all your needs are being met already?! So you can have all the time in the world to take care of a puppy and not have to pay the bills??

Always have had them they steal your heart, must be dedicated they want to be the boss, and generally are HA HA HA!

The only other dog that’s ever turned more heads than my male smooth dapple dachshund, is my male dachshund that’s mixed with 5 breeds; 34% Rottweiler, 29% dachshund, 19% Australian cattle dog,12 % retriever and 5.7% miniature pincher. The main thing with dachshund’s is that, like large dogs but not nearly or close to the same level, Is that you need to walk them and keep them in shape. Not letting them lounge around all day and get overweight is the biggest thing with dachshunds. As long as you keep them in shape, keep their weight down, back issues are not as much a concern. Any dog needs to be exercised, some breeds more than most. My oldest is 8, and I live in a townhouse. He goes down and up on the stairs and always has. I get my dogs rawhides to chew on and play with. Keep your dachshund’s in shape period. By the way, dapples are the prettiest and most handsome depending on the gender. I prefer males over females. And yes, everything that has been mentioned; is 100 percent correct. If you never had one and ever decide to get one, you will immediately become attached

You can't take away the barkign 100 % , it's not a good thing to try and do neither, i have an example, let's say i'll adopt you , yes you human, then everytime you start talking or want to say something i'll say no NO talking , you can't talk , you try to talk again 5 minutes later try to ask for a drink me: Nope shut it you can't talk .. fun right ? x) no YUou obviously can reduce the barking if your little dog is a huge barker and keeps everyone up the neigbours you everyone and he barks loudly outside on a walk to every dog etc etc. you can teach it to be more, well behaved but you shouldn't try take away everything you should let the dog be a dog in the end of the day and they'll be happier
