On the surface it seems Blackthorne is the most tragic dude. He almost had two of the most beautiful women one could desire and lost both of them to the circumstances that he couldn't fully understand. One can only imagine what losses drive Toranaga's ascend to power.

I watch this whenever I need a smile. It's a great mash-up, and I actually so liked this character as an "off-the-wall" thug type of guy in contrast to the cerebral expressions of Toranaga and most of the others.

The spotlight and attention may be on Anna Sawai the lead actress but for me the outstanding female actor in Shogun is Usama Fuji. I sincerely hope she wins an Emmy for her riveting performance. Her tortured emotions merely from her eyes is heart rendering.

I just keep coming back to this haha... glorious Yabushighe!

Great video. I didn't appreciate how expressive the actress was until your video. Made my second viewing of the series that much more enjoyable as I was less focused on the subtitles and more on the acting.

My favorite character in the season by far.

I remember watching the original shogun series as a kid. Was always and still am fascinated by Japanese culture. Been there twice with my samurai lady, my translator, wife. Beautiful, mysterious country. Great work on this remake. Cast perfectly. Its usually sports on my tv, but couldnt miss this one. Just a great performance by all.
