It was because of Malaguena. It brought the house down. That's why they won.

Please bring back traditional uniforms and headgear. I think the reason they got rid of the headgear and replaced uniforms with spandex nonsense is because there is so much acrobatics and jazz dancing incorporated in shows these days rather than actual marching - it's Drum Corps, not Dance Corps. lol I know, I know, I'm an old fuddy-dud.

I along with my best friend from HS were asked to audition for The Star of Indiana . Our HSband director was a member of the marching hundred at IU. Neither of us auditioned I went on to ISU and the marching Sycamores and he went on to DePauw and play baseball. I always wondered what if....

I marched in a VFW corp back in 1962, 1963 & 1964. Single valve French Horn. I also played a traditional three valve French Horn in our high school band. Without exaggerating, my single valve drum corp French horn was at least twice as loud as my three valve orchestra horn.

As someone who marched at a high school with former BD as staff, back from 2014-2017 when the theatrics were transitioning to what you normally see in DCI, we implemented both. Dots for any boxes and lines. Form for any curves.

and THEN factor in the fact that you live in rural canada and would have to fly all the way to america AND you have no marching experience because your school doesn't have a marching band but dci is like your biggest dream ever AND you only play trombone and would have to get a marching baritone (for $3000) and learn the valves. edit: AND canada's school system doesn't line up with america you would miss the last month of school (june)

And now Boston and Coats are a top 7 corps and Cavies and Phantom fell far below that, (until recently with Phantom) not to mention Cadets disbanding. The problem with G7 is that no one is top 7 forever

The scouts were on fire that night. After all these years, it is still one of my top 3 dci performances ever. The crowd went totally crazy, and I cried. It was so pure. It was a night that I will never forget. It was orgastic 😅

This is why I absolutely loved this show. I had read 'Animal Farm' the year before, and because of this, I was able completely understood the show on the first read. That was a first for me. However, once I got filled in by other nearby audience members of what was going on BTS in DCI, it became real clear that BAC was using this show to speak their minds about what was going on in the circuit at the time. It's in my personal top 5 shows for a reason.

Alumni '62 placed 5th in Nationals. "88" looked e3xcellent, however I wonder about the "slotting." Reminds me of manipulating placement and ballots. BTW, C. H. Beebe wasn't a golden god. As a 14 year old I saw some very concerning interactions between pretty scouts and line staff, all under Beebe's nose. Everything was kept quiet.

I have an old trumpet ,and it doesn't have laquer on it, I want to make it scratch brush finished like you're cornet ,but I'm not sure if I do as you have done in the video, will my trumpet be ruined. You said you will do an update video on your cornet. I want to see your cornet's current state,so if I like it, I'll do it.

Consider the Olympics gymnast. It is random order and it doesn't affect the results. The judges call it as it is.

The absolute shock and AWE on my face when i'm watching this video and the screen scrolls down to about halfway down the iceberg and i simply see "SHAWN NAGPAL" I busted out laughing! I think i vaguely know why he's on here, but I never actually got to know the full story. I was just super surprised to see his name here because he was one of my baritone techs when i marched for crossmen in 2022! I do know he's somewhat of a cryptid in the drum corps community somehow? something like that. When i auditioned for Bloo the following season (and didnt make it lol) i remember we were doing casual icebreakers during some down time at that camp and when i said i marched with Crossmen last year", 2 kids immediately were like "OMG SO YOU KNOW SHAWN NAGPAL?!?"

Also side note, and semi-unrelated, the dude is a living meme anyway. Among the collective members/former members of Crossmen from the '21 - '23 seasons, there are a good few dozen or so meme worthy pics of that man, my favorite of which, a screenshot of the baritone group chat where he "threatened" us with a knife (he was helping in the cook truck that night) if we didn't finish our dotbooks that night lmao

Hornlines used to be loud enough to COVER the drumline. Without mics. From the hash or further, not in front of the sideline.

The 1 valve bugle was also called a G/D bugle and the "tuba" is a contrabass. I played a valve/rotar and 2 valve baritone when I started marching in the last years of the G bugle and the first year DCA allowed the Bb horns. I honestly prefer the ease of playing the G bugles, but it was much easier to tune the Bb horns.

I would like you to have a decibel meter and monitor the corps with and without amplification… Then jump in a time machine and go back to the ‘70’s, ‘80’s & ‘90’s and test it out on G bugle Hornlines. Well at least the first part would be interesting. Keep up the great work. - Nick

Bro I'm just a kid working at fucking panera bread trying to march next year. the cost just really fucking hurts. I want to march, I want to do well in school school, I want to do high school marching band, and go to college. it's so fucking enraging. It's what stopped me this year and as someone who loves the activity sometimes I just ask why we can't say fuck the props, new instruments, new uniforms like what can we do to make this more affordable to us. It's just fucked. It's absolutely wild that my techs marched winter and summer seasons that cost less combined then what it takes to march drum corp today.

Dude I love your content, and Hunter is the man! I’ll never forget the night the staff revealed the full-extent of the show to us in 2018. The energy in that gymnasium was electric as they explained the theme and showed off the flags, props and guard uniforms, then they showed the corps’ proper uniforms and that place deflated like a balloon 😂 I just had to accept when I marched Boston in 2018 that I wasn’t going to get the opportunity to wear an amazing traditional uniform. Fortunately, that show will forever be a BAC classic and full disclosure, the uniform was very comfortable. It allowed crazy good movement and ventilation. But damn…

DCI visuals today definitely do not have this type of general effect. They just don't march big forms or drill anymore. And what they're doing on the field does not translate to or compliment the music.
