I bought two obd2 scanners last year, they were both not good. Until a friend of mine but this topscan recently, I saw him testing it on a couple of different cars, it was very good, way better than other ones I had tried. I haven't bought it yet, but I definitely will. Thanks for the video.

This does not work correctly with VW, i.e. report and datastream. Topdon do not have a solution.
@AutomotiveDiagnosisКүн бұрын
I haven't tested it on VW yet, for sure I will ASAP and let everyone know here. But I have on multiple cars (Toyota, KIA, Ford, Peugeot) and I found it's coverage very good. The other scanners with this price range cover very general functions.

You can also use a digital volt meter on the airbag itself, and measure the ohm reading. As you saw in your scan tool, you should get about 2.8 ohms (this is for every steering wheel airbag in all manufacturers). You will need to cut a small tip off a wd40 red spray nozzle and slide it down one of the post as to separate a contact point down at the bottom of the connect on the airbag, otherwise you will not get a correct reading.
@AutomotiveDiagnosisКүн бұрын
Even if you can get the resistance reading on the scanner, you should never check the airbag resistance with a multimeter as it could deploy the airbag. I’ve seen some cases of airbag deployment while checking it with multimeter. The whole point of using a dummy resistor is to avoid testing the airbag with a multimeter.
@TheMoonDrКүн бұрын
@AutomotiveDiagnosis I have never heard of an airbag being deployed using a DVM ever...in fact it's impossible...if you notice on the steering wheel airbags there is 2 connections (4 contact points) You would have to supply 12v to 2 out of the 4 pins (1 on each connector) to deploy said airbag. You can send in airbags to have them refurbished, and they use a digital volt meter to do this simple yet effective test to see if indeed the airbag is at fault and if so proceed with the work. I have done this many of times myself (checking the ohms reading) and never had one blow up, in fact I learned this very tip from the professionals who indeed refurbished them...

Just found and subscribed. This may be my issue. Gonna order a noid light kit. Have a po302 on my 2006 Subaru sti. Did all the swapes and tests. Compression, leakdown, vacuum leak test all good. Changed upstream and downstream denso sensors. Replaced crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Still have po302

Hi! It might be a long question with background. I bought ES350 2009 @ 223K miles few months ago. At the time of purchase tests showed P0011, P0012, P0013, P0015, P0016, P0017 and the engine is rebuilt. There was no issue at the time apart from 1-3 seconds upto a minute of rattling sound on start (cold, hot and sometimes while waiting at a red light). It had 5W30 in it then at the time of engine service. At service the Oil guy told me to go for 20W50 coz the engine was old. My bad I listened to him, and from the time I started the engine after changing the oil, I felt something off. Engine felt heavy, it took effort to run and mild vibration on idling. The next morning when I started the car the rough idling was wayyy more. The RPM was dancing, low and high on its own. The car wants to let go if I keep breaks on at D. Since then it comes and goes away as it wills. There is no check engine light. Since last 2 days the AC compressor doesn’t switch on if I’m waiting at D. As soon as I switch to N it starts cooling and sometimes it doesn’t work on P either. My mechanic told me everything is coz of the VVT gears and timing chain. It needs adjust only. I checked it again yesterday with autel scanner at the workshop and it gave P0011 & P0016 only. He’s adamant that solenoids and sensors are fine as there is no check engine light. All the KZfaq videos I saw, they keep VVT to be the last thing wrong but my mechanic is going the other way around. He didn’t check the connections, the sensors or solenoids. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT SHOULD I DO? I’m sorry it’s too long, but I had to explain. Thanks in advance.

Hello I am the owner of a Fiat Freemont just like the Dodge Journey Model 2011/2012, it has the fault C2200 ABS failure, I ask for your help to fix this module in Brazil it is very expensive I am an electronics technician and I also have an infra red soldering station, it is an intermittent defect, at the moment it presents the failure the scanner indicates the lack of the voltage of the 9,9v valve relay drops to zero volts, mosfet relay valve will need to be replaced?
