Just snagged a 2015 Edge 2.0 EcoBoost with this issue. Drove it almost home, had to push ot the last 1/4 mile. Im thinking the pump, torque converter, and flexplate should be changed. Would you recommend anything else? Thanks.

@@sk0.0t3r that’s what I done. I didn’t do the pump I replaced the bushing in it. New converter and filter and new flexplate new seals and problem solved

What was the symptom here ? I’ve got a 20 fusion 1.5 rattling like upper end noise, mostly goes away at 2200 or higher. Haven’t pulled starter to check plate yet.

I didn’t get to diagnose it. Someone else started the job and didn’t finish. But it was a bushing in the transmission pump the torque converter slides into. It allowed the converter to wobble breaking the flexplate

People like to give the 3.8 Mustangs a lot of crap, but I like to think of them as Ford's best kept secret. Swap the lower intake for a 99-00 3.8 with no IMRC valves, Windstar upper intake with 65mm throttle body from a 4.6, Comp custom grind cam, custom tune, adjustable front coilovers, and IRS rear end from a 03-04 Cobra. Perfect power to weight ratio for an autocross monster.
