Hi Lewis! Thanks for dropping in! And Thank you!! It’s been so much fun! 🤩 I appreciate everyone and their support! You were probably the most supportive and encouraging when I first started out. I will forever be grateful. You’re probably the most organized, efficient, minimal full time Van Dweller I’ve ever come across. 😃💯 Have a fantastic day! P.S. where are you now? How’s it been going?

@@ModernDayPilgrim I'm currently in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where temps have been in the 80s during the day and high 50s at night. I've been here almost a week, and, before that, I was in a beautiful part of Wyoming. Back in the day when you started your channel, I remember it took 8 months for you to get 100 subscribers. But I knew your channel would catch on and that your brand would sell. I was right. You have the best of both worlds - A vanlife as well as a family life. I knew that would sell. And now you're a world phenomena. I'm taking it easy and loving the fact I'm saving 2,000 dollars a month as a truck-dwelling nomad. I feel SUPER RICH. I'm hoping to go to California again in January to go on another cruise. I'm done with writing books. My goal now is to sock away boat loads of cash and live the easy life. Sure is nice hearing from you Nancy Faye. See ya on down the road. Lewis

I’m curious about the windows in your van. From the outside it really did look like no one was in there! When you got in your van you could see everything! Plus I did not see window covers. Do you have window covers or are your windows tinted quite dark?
@ModernDayPilgrim
@ModernDayPilgrim 3 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! My windows are tinted and it’s amazing how well they work during the day while I’m in the van in parking lots. They are tinted 20% I believe. I can be in my van in a parking spot and someone can pull up next to me, get out look in/at my van and not see me. ALL THE TIME! 😃🙌🏼💯 I do have custom window covers that I have made from Heatshield as well. Hope this helps! Have a fantastic day! 😃🙌🏼💯

Cool chase lounge! Awhile back you came up with a great idea in staying warm under a blanket tent. I was wondering if you've tried something similar to stay cool. Something like a sheet fashioned like a tent forming like a wind tunnel. Maybe spray sheet lightly with water. I don't know, but I love how you try EVERYTHING 😊

I feel like I would just build a base for the matress that comes right up to the the height of the cup holders and trim the mattress pad to fit. I'm short, haha. I would use the back as a closet (even put up a rod as live in dresses) and storage for seldom-used items. Everything I need daily would go under the bed. The passanger side door area would be a kitchen space, with a small fridge cooler in between the seats. I dunno... I can dream.
@ModernDayPilgrim
@ModernDayPilgrim 5 күн бұрын
It all sounds fantastic! Thanks for the comment! Since I am speaking of a No build, while a platform is a fantastic idea, it doesn’t resonate with my build type. Building into the van is not an option for me. If I built a platform, then I’d have to store it somewhere. It may be a great option for full time van dwellers though! Have a fantastic day! 😃🙌🏼💯

How about dimensioning your van? The year and make. Length, width, and height of the rear section, behind the front seats. I am searching for a used minivan to "play" with, and this way I would know what to expect when figuring bed height, length of bed, width of open area, and width of bed. I think many others would find this info useful also. If you know of any other makes inner dimensions, or know others that have those minivans, ask them to allow you to dimension the interiors in the same way. How about doing a video on what you use to put your kitchen together. What do you use for heating food?

Hi Nancy! Here's an area that I think you'd be able to expand upon & provide a good touchpoint: - People who are solo (esp women) have specific issues that make them hesitant to get started. Specifically: safety, protection, no support system (family), how to start, what are some good 'baby steps' to do and places to go to build confidence about car camping alone?

I have a Honda odyssey minivan and I am trying to figure out how to make my coleman with oven camp stove work. I would like to be able to slide it in and out of the back.I am a 65 year old female and I love camping. And when I go put camping I am usually the one to cook and bake things for our group. Any ideas of easy and frugal to make it work? 😊 Thanks

@ModernDayPilgrim 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your comment! Because my van is a no build, I don’t have any knowledge about particular builds that would suit your question. I bring a 4 foot foldable table, put it outside of the van when I get to my destination and put my Coleman ca stove on top of that. I don’t have anything that slides out or any kind of a build per se. You can check out my playlist called “ Van Camping in Michigan,” I have lots of helpful videos in there! Have a fantastic day!😃💯🙌🏼

@@kathybullmer8884 Kathy, have you tried calling Coleman customer service? The number should be somewhere on your stove. If not, then type in "Coleman stove customer service," and that should get you the number. Before calling them, hook your propane up to your stove and have a lighter handy. They should be able to walk you through getting your stove going. Hope that helps. Have a good day.

Hi Nancy. Hope your recovery is quick from your injury. Not sure if you’ve already addressed this or even made a video about it, but I’m worried about finding overnight parking. I’m thinking I’ll be staying in towns/cities since I’m a retired senior lady & am hesitant to “boondock” since I hate the thought of being out in the boonies where I’m all alone & no one will hear me scream if anything happens.😮

I’m not Nancy, but I am going to address this from my point of view. I recommend that you join a meetup or create one - meet at a camp ground close by - meet other seniors to see how you get along with them. Do it more than once to “find your tribe”. I did this - created a local meetup - before I headed out on my own. One woman came. I’m lucky as we hit it off. A couple months later I contacted her and we decided to caravan to the south west. She had been involved with a large group and we camped in the desert with them for a couple of weeks. Then we dispersed and moved on in smaller groups. I did this for five months. It was awesome. I learned more about how I like to camp. I LOVE BOON-DOCKING. I also like doing it with others. Look up caravans online; join virtual caravans online to see if you can find a group you want to meet.

Thanks for watching! I appreciate your support! Yeah, I used to tent camp for years until my youngest got too old and his interest started to flourish in other areas. I still wanted to camp, but didn’t really want to tent camp by myself, and deal with all the set up and tear down by myself. That’s how VAN CAMPING became a thing for me! I absolutely love it! When I started doing my research, of course Bob Wells popped up first and I just began, everything there was to learn, and off to the races I went! It’s been great! I don’t live in my van full-time, I do have a house and a husband and kids and a granddaughter, but I love traveling! So I go and do my thing and the family is supportive! I hope you are able to get out on the road soon and Everything comes together to camp in whatever type of vehicle you choose! Have a fantastic day! I appreciate you taking the time to comment.😃💯🙌🏼
