How do you clean the front of a tooth that's behind two over teeth

Now that is more tricky! Use a very small headed toothbrush and maybe a water flosser. If you have a tooth that is behind two other teeth it is certainly worth seeing an Orthodontist to see if they can help. Good luck!

In less than a year I’ve already broken two retainers. The plastic should be stronger and there should be a warranty for retainers to protect patients

It is difficult to make a plastic that is strong enough to withstand high bite force and also thin and flexible enough to flex over the full height and undercut of the teeth without placing them at risk of damage. Perhaps in the future we will have some developments in material technology.

Hey I got my twin blocks 6 days ago and looking at other people wearing them online, Ii noticed that their blocks are fully touching when they have their jaw pushed forwards, however when I push my jaw forward, my twin blocks only touch around halfway and there is a gap above my molars, does that mean something bad?

Spacing on its own does not qualify but spacing due to other causes can so worth booking an assessment with an Orthodontist!

I cannot comment on this specific case but cases of this complexity normally take 12-18 months.

Thank you for the video! But is there a solution if my biteguard retainers keep cracking? I grind my teeth a lot and generally clench my jaw, the first retainer I got for this cracked after 2 weeks with a bit coming fully off and the second after 1 week already has a crack :(

Twinblocks are generally to correct overjet only and are often followed by a fixed brace phase which then corrects alignment. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for such an informative video. I am 15 and I have been incredibly insecure about my teeth for years. I have a big gap in between by two front teeth and they seem to sort of repel apart? They turn out and really look awful, I’m also very self-conscious about the way my mouth sits because of my teeth. hate talking to people so I always cover my mouth, and I never eat with other people, including at school. Do you think that an orthodontist would take the psychological impact of my crooked teeth into account? I have a consultation coming up and I’m very worried.

I would suggest looking at the entry criteria for dental school by checking on dental school websites before deciding. I personally did biology, chemistry and maths. Hope that helps!

Hey Bracebook. I had a referral when I was 14, but they said they were not crooked enough. 8 years later, and they are even more crooked than ever before, with severe crowding going on with the bottom set, having two teeth completely overlapping another one. I'm finding it can get painful sometimes in that area because of the severe crowding, as well as finding it extremely hard to clean since it's mostly covered by the other 2 teeth. Would this be possible to get for free on the NHS? If so, what process do I need to go through to try and get this considered for free? Thanks

Dear Jamie, braces that are free at the point of delivery are normally reserved for patients under 18, although sometimes exceptions can be made. I would suggest discussing with your general dentist at your next check. Good luck!

Hi XO, in the UK it is often possible to have braces over 18 if the referral was made under 18. This seems to be practice dependant however and depends on the individual contracts they hold with the NHS. Hope this helps!

Ah ! I just got them a few hours ago It's a little bit different from twin block and a little bit (more than that ....) painful even i am unable to speak normally My dentist (or orthodontist) said to eat and brush as normally i do He didn't said anything about removing it or ... Any advice on what and how to eat & how to brush would be appreciated.

Due to the fact at a certain age you don’t have to pay for surgery ,majority of British people have straight teeth. It’s just a stereotype,which is funny considering Americans have to pay 1000s just for dental treatment. You’d think Americans have worse teeth from the “facts”.

I'm missing one of my lateral incisors (it never formed) & a canine moved forward to replace it but with a slight gap. Two months ago I decided to put on fast-braces and now i have to come to a decition on whether to close the gaps with braces or leave a gap for an implant or a mairyland bridge. I was considering the mairyland bridge but after research I found out that my bone and gum might recede if there is no support between my front incisor and my canine. Because this is gonna be in the front of my mouth, i dont want my gums to recede and look bad. Also i dont want to put metal in my bone and have an implant. Should I just close the gaps and unfortunately end up with a smaller mouth? Or is the mairyland bridge a good solution?

Often the decision on options is made from the bite that you have. I would ask for a clinical examination and advice from a Specialist Orthodontist. All the best!

As someone who has these rn they’re not that bad - I had a lisp and ached a bit but I ate with them all the time and got used to then quickly and in my appointment 1 and a half months later I had already moved 6mm forward (I had a 10mm overbite)

I just got twin blocks and they bottom half doesnt go over ther the top half (they dont go into position no matter how much i push my bottom jaw foward) will I be able to put it into position in a few dats or is there something wrong with my brace?

You need an X-ray to know if the tooth is hiding there or just never formed. Lateral incisors are much more commonly missing than stuck. Hope that helps!
