Sounds like the old lister generator we had a power source when I grew up in the chatham islands me and my younger brother would start it up when mum an dad where still at work and open it right up .the house lights would go so bright.haha

This video came up on my KZfaq feed. Watching it and thought the boat and scenery looked familiar. Read the details and discovered its Molde Norway. My wife and I visited there last September from Canada. I remember walking past that boat and commenting to her how nice it looked. That’s quite the coincidence.

It is standard diesel. It runs without black smoke when the pitch on the propeller is tuned inn. You can see it on the last part of the film.

Beautiful sound, reminds me when I was a child staying on my uncles farm and he had an old engine pumping water from a well up to a water tank. At night you could hear that old engine thumping away, sounded very much like this engine at slow speed.

how big is the wheel on this vessel? It moves along at a very good speed considering the low rpm of this engine al be it, this engine has huge amounts of torque, so the wheel must be pretty big with an aggressive pitch.

The fly wheel is 1000kg. The crank shaft whith piston and rod is 400kg. The rotating parts with the propeller and the propellar shat is aprox 1600 kg, and the weight gives the engine a stabil hight torque it need to run the propeller. It is a two blade propeller with adjustable pitch and a diameter of 1,1 meter.

Have l understood correctly: if the flywheel starts spinning to the wrong direction (backwards), all u need to do is to shut the fuel untill the piston bounces against compression and makes it spin the opposite way? 🤔

Yes almost. You shut of the fuel and give it a little pump on the manual diesel pump before the piston is on top when it is on wery low idle. It causes back fire and the engine turns the other way 😊

Do you also perform medical surgery in your engine room, or so? Not a single drop of oil on the floor plates, not a spot of worn out paint. Wit is wit en het koper glimt. Weird. It's almost frightening. What's happening here?
