Middlesbrough are literally one of the favourites to go up, and have Michael Carrick, Boro are clearly building a project. Also the championship is the best 2nd division in the world and probably the 5th or 6th best division out of all divisions.

From a Boro fan the championship is one of the most competitive leagues in the world and one of the most watched if Morris shines for us eyes will be watching him. Boro are a big club as well. Hopefully, this season is a promotion season to get us back to the Prem. I with the lad on the right btw 😂

This guy has no idea about the standard in the championship, boro were 8th last season and were crippled by injuries for most of the season. Under Carrick he’ll be given the chance to play and express himself whereas anywhere else, bundesliga, serie A is just turgid football, rotting in the championship - what a muppet!!! - boro have attendances of over 28k every home game and the facilities are second to none.

Laughable how he mentions the beligian league as a better option when its on a par with english league 1, the guy on the left is clueless to the standard of football in england, the championship is stronger than most european top leagues, even the eredivisie minus 2-3 teams is weaker than the champonship as an overall competition

I think what Beckham did with using the loan system is an interesting balance Landon Donavon also..... Once a usmnt player has reached a peak level in Europe they could rejoin the MLS.... Then in the off-season use 3-month European loan deals every year to keep in touch with the level.... That works... I was impressed with Donavon at Everton...Beckham kept a high level at AC milan short loans... Mckennie could do a similar thing no problem (but they must choose a team where they will play.... And they must choose a team that wins)

@@thedesignatedplayerspodcast It works for very Elite players.... But probably difficult for middle range players.... Bottomline... It can't be optimal for a world class USA team to be playing in the MLS.... That can't work atm... Ultimately average wages in the MLS needs to get to a Top5 league level A World class player probably needs 30 Top class games per-year to keep maintained..... The MLS need to find a format that can provide that

Even midtable/playoffs team can beat premierleague on their day. Its a highly competitive league. It wouldnt surprise me he went back to columbus after finding it too tough over here.

If Morris is as good as you say he is he won't "rot in the championship for years". That's a nonsense take. Morgan Rogers last season went to Boro where his emerging talent was spotted by Aston Villa and sold to them - just 5 months at Boro. Boro would not stand in the way of talent progressing should they not go up themselves.

I'll be honest chaps, your knowledge of the Championship is limited. The guy in the hat genuinely has no idea what he's talking about. But, a quick example would be Morgan Rogers. Shone for the Boro, now at Aston Villa, top end of the Premier League. Another example, Kei Kamara, couldn't do it in the Championship, is the second top scorer in MLS history. Jaime Moreno is in the Hall Of Fame. Couldn't cut it in the Championship. Your knowledge on English football needs to be a lot deeper.

Sorry guys, as someone who has had an mls season ticket and a championship season ticket. This is a step up. Yes the top players in the mls would be top players in the championship and maybe the top two or three teams could compete. But the average mls player and average mls team are below bottom and championship. Physically it’s much higher paced, tactically much stronger. If he plays well Middlesbrough might go up. If they don’t then premiership scouts watch the championship every week and we’ve sold Roger’s to Villa last season, Tavernier and Adama Traore couple of seasons before that

Most MLS teams would be League 1 or bottom level Championship at best. From what i've seen of him Morris is way too good for the MLS so assuming he adapts to English football, the Championship will be a good test for him. The Championship is one of the toughest leagues in the world.

I love the passion of these guys but they do not know the quality of the Championship teams beyond maybe the relegated Premier League clubs. Middlesbrough have sold many millions worth of players to Premier League teams in recent seasons and currently have multiple players destined to play at that level in the next couple of years, so it is very much a pathway to the Premier League even if they aren’t promoted. In addition they have a very promising ex England international as manager and look to be very well placed to challenge for promotion this season.

Hey boro fans although some of your points are important, your overated opinion of the club is way to high, and here's the argument, what if your stuck in the championship at the end of this season and carrick jumps ship and uses the football club as a stepping stone, all his time in management at the riverside has been a complete waste of time, karankas success is a long time ago almost a decade, answer me this question are middlesbrough showing ambition, are the club going to wait until the transfer window is almost closed and cash in on essential players, they have a history of doing this, akpom was meant to be injured wasn't he, err yeah, were going to smash the championship yet with the correct investment and backing of the then manager you would of still been in the premiership, I sincerely hope this season your at the top of the table at the start rather than starting badly and missing out on promotion, I think ambition at your club is gone, now it's your turn prove me wrong !
@Rogue0071
@Rogue0071 3 күн бұрын
Akpom absolutely was injured, it was visible in the playoff second leg, and it impacted his start of the season with Ajax (also, it would have been completely unhelpful to the club trying to sell him to have him appear so badly injured he missed all of preseason, and we were happy to play players in preseason we subsequently sold e.g. Marcus Tavernier). That's a bizarre and entirely pointless conspiracy theory you've put together.

@@Rogue0071your missing the point if we ever want to be anything in the football world we can't keep selling players, etc if akpom was given a wage rise he would of stayed got the goals and we would of walked promotion, he was sold the loan players moved on and were back to the drawing board again, last season we did the double over the champions, were under achieving, and have been for many years, middlesbrough fc are a premier league club if were promoted next season I'll reply to you and say your comment is correct, if were no further on and still stuck in the championship then I'm correct, at the moment were a football club that is lost, nonexistent, they need to rediscover they ambition again !

We finished 3rd last season and usually always top 6" vew the stats for championship and how many people watch it" one of the most watched leagues in europe" the quality of football in the championship is just as good as the prem imo and we play 2 games a week which makes it so hard to get out of" guy on the right talks sense and knows football, guy on the left hasn't got a clue how good and hard the championship is to get out of?

The discovery rule is still important because it gives smaller market teams a chance to sign a big name player that they wouldn't normally have a chance of signing.This allow clubs to get in touch with a certain player that could be very profitable an appealing to a fan base , they basically get a chance to pitch to a big name that wouldn't normally have a chance in getting normally because most of the time they want to go to the big market teams , in LA, New York, Miami and I think Chicago deserves some love too , and also Philly some respective aspects , without this rule the player wouldn't even know about the smaller market teams , it allows the chance for that team to change the big player's mind to come to their city.Compenstation I think is fair as well too for the team that wants to move ahead of them in the pecking order , it's only fair if they want to move up they gotta pay , this is America isn't it?.......

Don't know where to start with left guy! Every ppint he makes is wrong and shows a distinct lack of understanding of football and how football is perceived by clubs and those who have a reaaonable grasp of it. Point 1, as some have said, Middlesbrough are right in the mix. 2 seaaon of transition have lead to a fantastic base being built and signings such as this added to that see them looking very well set for the season. They won the lesgue cup in 2004, qualified for Europe 2 years running and got to the UEFA cup final in 2006. They have had many legends play for them over the years and as far as names go, Morris is way down that list. Point 2 - rotting in the Championship. Make no mistake that the Championship is a FAR higher level than the MLS. Then, why would he rot there? So so so many good players get plucked from there. Hes a DM so wont get noticed coz of stats???? What kind of a receuitment model do you think clubs have??? And if its as archaic as you seem to believe ams they just watch occasional games or something, you dont think a DM can get spotted?? For your info, there are stats on everything and yes, DMs get picked up on those too by technical recruiters/data analysts. Either way, in the Championship you get NOTICED, and our very own 21 year old midfielder Hayden Hackney who guy in the right mentions is being courted by 2 or 3 top 6 premier league sides and is being touted as a possibke England international of the future. So many words, so little thought and genuinr analysis put in. Itd basically 'ive not heard of Middlesbrough so it must be a bad move and now i have to come up with arguments to back uo that knee-jerk hypothesis'. Over in England, believe me, if he is good, he will be noticed very quickly by fans and clubs alike coz we know the game and what makes a good DM!!! P.s. do you know who Michael Carrick is??? And what position he used to play for a then dominant Man Utd and England?
