Oh, how I enjoy a good purple ink. From this collection Bilberry is my favorite, maybe my favorite of all purples I have. Imperial Purple I don’t like because of the smell. Recently I got some purples like Damson. Unsaturated, moody grayish purples, I love them a lot Robert Oster Black Violet and Journalist This Laugh & Dare. looking forward to your next video about purples

I love all the purple (my 2nd favourite colour after green) I believe I own 8 of your selection. My favourites are Imperial Purple, Lavender Frost, Sydney Lavender & Violet Clouds 💜💜

Great choices! I've really been enjoying purple inks lately. It's one of those colours that I just always kind of skipped over but that I find fascinating when you take the time to see all the subtle nuances. High five for green as a favourite colour! :)

I wonder what you would think of Sailor's Chushu from their Shikiori line. It's a very desaturated purple to the point that a lot of places online categorize it as a gray. I really like it!

I haven't tried that one yet, but online it looks very nice! Reminds me a bit of Diamine Earl Grey, but a bit more purple. Will have to try it at some point! 😊

I was so happy to see this video pop up today. I see some favorites and some new ones. Damson is underrated. Imperial Purple was my first purple and I agree with you. I plan to buy a bottle of Queen Allium.

I have two notebooks for work, one discbound, the other a daily notebook for the TASKS I’ve done today and will do tomorrow. I rely on calendar heavily. I block my calendar for all meetings and time sensitive tasks. In addition, I have a pocket notebook where I put down daily timelines (on what did I spend my time) from the front and use the back pages as my “write everything down” inbox (currently it’s a Murdy No7 with looseleaf paper)

Loved this rambly video, Ru! Always fun to hear your planner thoughts :) Sorry the PaperTess isn't working out for you, but sometimes we do have to just try things out before we can see if works for us, so no regrets! :) In my work, every day is different with no real deadlines as it is an engineering support role. I do have a schedule though, so I only use a Hobonichi Weekly Supplement believe it or not! Compact and easy to carry around :) Contrarily, my personal planning has three books! :D

Sheen is an interesting characteristic, as depending on the type of paper or the thickness of the lines it might not show up at all. Shimoyo sheens a LOT more in a swatch than in writing 😅

The A5 with the grey front cover is from Take a Note, yes! I got it second-hand, as it seems to be sold out everywhere. They will be easier to find again in october/november or so, when stores stock up on next year's planners. While last month was very bright and saturated, this month is much more calm. I love both! When you swatch the Diamine Summer Sunset I kinda wonder if it would be too light. Then it dries to a darker undertone -- I breathe my sigh of relief haha. That Journal this Be-leaf is 😍 The swatch color looks very complex on the screen. Seems like next year I really need to heavily consider buying Be-leaf and Laugh&dare during DPS. Really love love this month's lineup, thanks for sharing!

I totally feel you on the Diamine Summer Sunset, haha! It is a bit annoying when I'm journaling at night, because the ink is so light when wet so you need quite good lighting to see what you're writing. But when it dries it's very legible. And yes, Be-leaf is SO NICE! I mostly got it because green is just my favourite colour in general but I expected it to be more flat and was positively surprised at the shade of green. There's some brown in it, some grey, some yellow - very fun to write with. Glad you like the lineup, thank you for watching!

Love the simplistic layouts you do, Ru! They're aesthetic and functional without being too much - especially for a pre-filled type of planner. Congrats on the new job! Chatty planner updates are my favorite so this was just up my alley. Thank you for the video. And congratulatiosn on the new job, which is also a good segue to the subject of what are you using for work planning? Paper or just digital? And if changing jobs effects your work planning routines? I really like the papertess design layout and if I would have a meeting heavy job, or a job where I need to do lots of planning/week that might be what I would gravitate towards. It has enought structure so you can put things straight to the correct week, but enough space to be creative on a week to week basis. But my job is not like that so I have no need for a seperate work planner.

Thank you so much! That's a good question actually. For my old job, I used a combination of digital planning and notes, and then a notebook for to-do lists or working out ideas. I think for the exact reasons you described, the papertess designs could work well for work. I think I'm going to start mostly digitally and see where I could incorporate more paper planning. For work, digitally works well for me from a functional point of view, but writing makes me happy and brings some extra joy into a work day. I think the type of work you do makes a lot of difference in terms of planning needs, taking notes, etc.

Currently I am using a cheap HEMA BJ, looking for another system that would fit me with good fountain pen friendly paper. Planning, journaling etc. Watching a lot of videos, reading reviews. It is a lot to think over as the nice books aren’t budget friendly 😊

Thank you so much! It's actually quite sad that so many cheaper planners don't have fountain pen friendly paper. I mean, it's okay if it doesn't show all of the shading or the colours are a bit off, but if the ink doesn't feather and bleed you could at least enjoy writing with a fountain pen in it. I used to quite enjoy HEMA planners, but that was before I had a fountain pen. I hope you find something really nice that fits your budget and works well for you!

Diamine Aurora Borealis and Bliss are my two most used in this category. They're all beautiful but I dont reach for teal inks that often. Now, purple inks are my some of my favorites. I'm looking forward to that video.

Teal, a color I love. my favorite is Lamy Amazonite. It is very similar to Diamine Aurora Borealis, a little bit more blue. Dominant Industries Lake is another favorite, a little hint of violet makes it different from Diamine steel blue. The scented Herbin you mentioned makes me curious. In general I don’t like scented inks, the ones I had smelled much to strong, flat without any nuances in scent. A more complex, subtle scented ink sounds like something I can enjoy like a good shaving soap or eau de toilette.

I had to google Lamy Amazonite, and it looks really nice! As for the scented inks, Bleu Plénitude is unlike any scented ink I've come across. It does remind me of eau de toilette. Maybe you can find a sample somewhere, so you don't have to commit to a (rather expensive) bottle only to discover you don't enjoy the scent 😊

I’m pleasantly surprised by the Schneider Bermuda! I know they are makers of school pens (at least in Germany many years ago), but I’ll have to be on the lookout for their inks now! Thank you!

So far I've been positively surprised by their line of pastel inks. They're not always the most practical (as they're quite light), but the colours are really nice and fairly unique as well. I get the feeling they'd be lovely to paint with as well.

I like the brighter teals - so for Sailor, I'd use 464. I think it's interesting how Sailor numbers their inks, you can always tell which color along the line of numbers you would like because of their numbering system. In your list, Lake is my favorite! But it's not as wet as I want it to be, but it's still very very good flow. Diamine marine has been on my list to try as it's right in the color shade I like. So excited for this color family, Ru! :D Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you liked the video! Totally agree, the numbering system is very useful. Ink Studio 464 looks very pretty online, I guess fairly similar to Diamine Marine although I'd have to see them next to each other to say for sure. I'm really starting to see why you like teals and turquoises so much!

This colour family seems to have a lot of fans! 😊 I was totally influenced to try Diamine Marine because Brian Goulet often mentions it on the Pencast, and I can totally understand why.
