Not sure if you will see this but I’m going into sophomore year. Freshman year I didn’t do any AP classes and this year I want to push myself. I’m thinking of doing the highest level of Spanish but have no idea what else to do. I really like English and history so definitely want an AP class on those . I’ve never been great at math so not sure what type of math class to take. I’m not very educated on all the different classes that I can take and all the lingo…so some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your ranking of APWH is odd. It's the only AP I've taken so far (my school only permits students to take APs as early as sophomore but I could have easily aced it in freshman year) and it was super easy for me. I wonder what was different between our AP learning.

I also had the open note quizzes our teacher also basically told us how to study for them and we went through what would basically be on the test.

I pretty much just finished my ap world course and the firsr half of the year was the worst experience of my life. With marching band taking halft my work time at home and the fact we had 2 different assignments one from a resource packet where we answered questions on documents and another with more documents but with stupid questions (the human records ifykyk). But later in the year when we basically did ap exams for hw whether it was a short response LEQ/DBQ blueprint or MC. And I had a really smart friend who took ap world who genuinely saved my ass and locked me. And the ap exam felt so easy thx to ap exam prep being hw (Mr. boardman da best)

Congratulations on your acceptances! I did not apply to either of these schools so I cannot give you detailed advice. I would ask yourself what values you prioritize and what both of these schools can offer you.

I agree with your top 1, AP Bio. I loved the class my sophomore year and the teacher was very helpful and had knowledge as both a previous AP tester but also a cancer researcher.

My advice: DO NOT TAKE AN AP CLASS ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!
@Alex_Mewtwo29 күн бұрын
My advice: before taking an ap class, ask students who have already taken it at your school if the teacher does well and think about if you will be interested in it. if both of those conditions work out, go for it
@philipwhitecat4 ай бұрын
it's weird that apworld is the hardest, maybe it's because in our district it's purely a junior-level class and thus we've had time to develop better study strategies, but i feel it's far more fun and rewarding than apush

The difficulty of the class is largely determined by the teacher. Glad you didn't have the same experience with AP World!

Why not UPenn?
@advikthepianokid45835 ай бұрын
There are many that you left out? For example, why not UPenn, Columbia, Harvard etc?! They are objectively far superior in terms of opportunity, research, and they also fit your criteria of “location”? They each have some of the best hospitals, research institutions etc all around them, and the setting is just more geared towards premeds/life science (biology) in general? PS: I’m not trying to judge your decision, rather I was just wondering why did you not apply/mention these schools when they seem like a better decision in terms of your own criteria?
@michaelkopacz5 ай бұрын
Those are the schools I did apply to! In this video I only mentioned the schools I did not apply to and my reasons for not applying.

Okay just going to say if your dream is to be a doctor, crossing off all of the best undergrads because they're too far or it took too long to apply is a bit reckless and privileged.

I know it's a bit late (I hope you see this), but for the SAT (I know it's kinda off-topic) on the common app, they ask you to submit scores you wish to report. I'm aware that some schools participate in collegeboards score choice program, but even with that in mind, when I plug in the singular score I wish to submit on the common app, on the page where they summarize what you've completed, they put that 1 score under the title of "number of past SATs taken." However, I've taken 3 SATs but I chose to submit 1. Can someone (preferably someone in college at the moment) clarify that contradiction? What did you personally do? And what should I do?
@michaelkopacz6 ай бұрын
I don’t remember the specifics of the Common App, but I would ask your school guidance counselor or other students what they did!

Any tips man I am doing 4 aps : this is my senior year and I am doining 4 APs (Chemistry Biology Calculas AB and AP research) and my college needs at least 3 5s .On my freshman year, I did 3 APs(all where 4s) one of them was chemistry but couldn't finsish acid and bases , rates and some parts of thermodynamics . So can you please give me any tips or things that can help ?
@michaelkopacz7 ай бұрын
When I practiced chemistry I did a bunch of practice problems, and I went to Khan Academy when I did not understand a concept. Other than that I had a teacher who pushed us but taught us a lot.

AP COMP SCI A. Not sure how to study for it any tips?
@michaelkopacz7 ай бұрын
I used the Barron's book when studying for this one, although I did this exam online during the pandemic so it was shortened to only a few free response questions. I found the class challenging but I believe that exposing yourself to practice problems and making sure that all of the concepts make sense to you and can be applied by you is the best thing to do. My understanding wasn't as strong as it should have been and I ended getting a 4, although there was also little room for error on that year's exam as many students come in with a heavy background in CS and our exam had only a few FRQs to base our entire grade on. Hope this helps!
