That charco negro, that one is closer to me. That water hole is from the quebrada anones. The entire land was given to my great grandfather by the church. i am living in bayamon now. I am so stuck because i have a bunch of people ruining my life because they've been trying to stop me from ever claiming the properties that are supposed to mine. i can't even live there anymore until they finish all the court cases and it never ends while they try to kill me. Anyway, I am no longer making videos but I used my cameras and my editing skills basically incriminate the but, some police are corrupt and the tribunal are the most racist people, most classist people and they just decided to hate me for all the wrong reason. Sorry about reporting this like this but yeah, i was going to go to the charco and it's very near my home in bayamon. I would really like to go there but, I'm losing hope as I am convinced that the tribunal is to let them kill me with the machines that they illegally pointing at my home 24 hours a day to drive me broke and get me sick. Maybe someone in the US government can help me but.... i have zero faith in them. Regardless of all the BS they have tried, I am absolutely sure that there will always be another corrupt person trying to mancha me with lies so they can team up on me while their people are slowly getting busted, assasinated, lose their jobs, lose their spouses or go to prison. If they just obey the law and treat me as a normal human, all of this would've been done with long ago and i would've ended up with the 3 houses on my grandmothers house, one more in naranjito by judgement, and at least 4 more houses including the house I live in in Bayamon. Sorry to spill this on you in a comment but I feel so defeated right now.

I LOVE this recipe... except I make mine in a food processor (which makes a better chop) rather than using a blender (which produces a puree that is too watery and too finely ground). The flavor profile is perfect! I also put mine in ice cube trays and freeze the sofrito cubes solid, then put the cubes in a plastic bag in the freezer. This way I can use as much or as little as I need in different recipes. Keeps great for up to 6 months! (After that, it loses a bit of the fresh taste and color.)

I did that with cullantro (recao). I don't do it much now. I just cut the leaves fresh. I'd like to say something weird. My Mom makes fresh sofrito like this. Honestly, I don't grow everything. I know it sounds weird, but, I kind of like garlic powder better than fresh garlic. The reason why is because I pick the fresh peppers, the recao, the onions. I don't grow everything so I just take some store bought sofrito and add a few spoons. It really levels the taste from what I lack. The thing is, with what I grow, it taste very fresh. So no matter what, it taste really good. It's really a lazy way. I kind of cheat. I like my sofrito chunky. 🙂 Thanks for the comment.

A lot of people like it. At the time, I wasn't very experienced with editing. It took me every day for 3 weeks to edit that video. I had multi camera shots and lots of footage. I wasn't very experienced with Davinci Resolve at the time. Still though, I'm happy with the result. It's my most viewed video and it has many likes. 🙂 Thanks for the opinion.

Sometimes you need to just modify the recipe's according to your gut. I don't always like the exact proportions they use in the books. I tend to modify my recipes a bit each time I make the same thing. 😀

This was so sweet! She taught me some tricks, I love the old timers! They teach you nice old school tricks of the trade! I’m making mine this weekend & will definately use her tricks!! Are you guys in PR filming? Also, Goya & Le FE is now selling MASA made of green banana in the frozen food section for 12-14 dollars! I’m going to try it this year!

Lol, the masa is the easy part. Pasteles take a long time to prepare. Every time I get a rack of green bananas, I make accapurias. No, my mom lives in Florida. I live in PR and went to visit her. She was actually doing it to teach me how. I decided to film it. I'm so glad I did. If I decide to make a batch of pasteles, I will definitely be using my own video. 🙂

Nice to see someone that goes through all the right steps and right seasonings to make these amazing pasteles, I’m make them almost the same use my electric grater to speed the process also add the ham, m, pork skin diced in with the pork and go the extra step of adding the garbanzos, raisins, olives and the pimentos sliced once we start assembling one at a. time so everyone gets a bite of everything in one. I know it’s hard labor but at the end it is rewarding. It’s much easier to get a family gathering to help and enjoy right after.
@plantedinpr886
@plantedinpr886 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, they take long to make. They are good though. My mom doesn't use the garbanzos or raisins. Yep, lots of labor. I remember when I was a kid, the women here in PR used to get together and made an assembly line and split up the task. They made hundreds of Pasteles together. I remember being sent out to pick and cut the cleanest, nicest banana tree leaves so they could finish. :-) Thanks for the comment and have a merry christmas and happy new year. 🙂

This may be a stupid question but, do plátanos ripen if left on the tree? I bought a Puerto Rican plátano tree a week ago and it would be cool if come harvest time if I can prevent all my plátanos from ripening by just picking off the tree what I need throughout the year. I appreciate your help!
