why not drill holes on each side of the crack and sand on both sides and use 2 component glue for plastic repair and use heat in this way makes the plastic more brittle and worse and less flaky

not bad, but only one type of plastic. The easiest one. THere is lots of differents type of plastic - diffrent method is needed.
