What did you use for the cover over the gun mantlet? Looking to do the same modification on my M60A1 conversion

@@AmericanFury I used a target shopping bag. This design was to try and make a working bellows cover but it didn't quite work how I wanted. Just take the rear part of the mantlet and cover it with a shopping bag and glue it with wrinkles in it.

The M-60 did not have a turbine engine,theirs were diesal .

This tank has a diesel engine sound. I dont know why you made this comment. The Abrams comes with a very good turbine sound and it is very different than the diesel engine sound in theM60 tank

I really do not reccomend buying the 4M made by Hooben unless you are a very experienced RC model builder and fabricator for repairs as the 3d model requires lots of maintence but Henglong makes an excellent RC Mark IV without the Trophy system and if you buy the Pro version for about $350 US from Motion RC you probably will never break it. My friends all have this RC model and I plan to get one for my 10 year old son because it is so good. Look for it at motionRC.com

This tank has been heavily modified with ball bearing wheels, custom trany install, 3d printed track and working sprung shock absorbers. Its quite robust and built to last.

The TD M60 series are great tanks and my best runners and most fun to drive but, you must buy the metal version of the m60 tanks. The plastic versions are junk. Also we dump the metal tracks and put plastic ones in because they run much better with plastic tracks.

Cool tank. Awesome to learn some history. I'm thinking of getting into rc tanks. How would you say has the durability of the plastic tracks been? I'd like to save some money and get the plastic tracked version, but plan on running it quite hard outdoors. Thank

Do not buy the plastic tracked version. It has all plastic bushings and plastic tranys. You must buy the all metal version which has all ball bearings. The plastic version will not hold up. And then we put plastic tracks on because they run way better with plastic tracks because the metal tracks are way to heavy and bog the tank down. We also run bigger batteries like a 5000 mah nimh race car pack. See my video about making an access hatch in the rear for charging a bigger battery.

I am planning to get one of those “upgrade” heng longs from motion rc with the steel transmission gears and metal suspension arms (not sure if they have bushings or bearings in them) and the plastic tracks, road wheels, etc. Glad to know there are some that prefer the plastic tracks.

yes it works great. Just be careful backing over an obstacle that the rear wheel does not drop down and twist forward.

If you are doing the M60A1 (rise) most noticeable by the smoke/grenade launchers, you need the T142 track with the track pads. It was a upgrade from the chevron track. I was a driver and loader on the M60A1 (rise) in Berlin Brigade. Co F 40th Armor regiment, we also had the new air filters.

This is an A3 so it should have the Hexagonal pad track as you say the A1 Rise did. But I'm going to swap the turret for an A2 Starship turret when it arrives. Then the Chevron track will be correct.

@@RichJohnsonVideos yea.. thats an issue. Gotta be the rite spot. But they dont last. I found a contruction yard that did not mind me playing on their lot. Never got close to their gear stayed far away. But the real owner told me i could not play on his property. He told me i may get hurt! I understood. So now..tank spots are hard to find

You mentioned someone named fasttracks on rc tank parts. I know that I probably don't have his web name correct or his website name either. Would you possibly have that information? My next tank purchase will probably be the TD M60. I really enjoyed checking website and when my TD M60 gets here, I definitely will be getting back you on parts. Do the motors not heat up the battery by being so close to it?

The battery is up forward in the middle of the tank. There is no problem with the motors heating it.

@@scribblenuggetIf you make the battery wire in the tank side longer yes you could do that. But I made a Y harness, the battery is still plugged into the mfu, and a second battery cable comes to the rear to charge the nimh battery in the tank

Corelais suspension set is your friend, you'll need to make two parallel brackets to accommodate the system, but it's bulletproof and adjustable
