The problem with this is. The medium that's shorting out the battery needs to be able to withstand the buildup of heat in the battery. If you're using the stranded wire. You need to make sure that it continuously keeps a good connection. If you're using nickel strip you got to make sure the way you attached it and then they will strip itself can handle the heat. But the easiest way to short out a . It is too short out the positive contact with the case of the battery. The shorter length of whatever you're using would provide least resistance and let the battery get hotter

Just an observation, not knowing the exact product number, but assuming 4 Ah per cell: I count 180 cells from your video. Considering it requires 4 cells in series to get 12.8 v, then paralleling the 45 series groups yields 180 Ah capacity theoretically. Not a detracting observation to your well presented info.

@DIYTechRepairs

you cant have both inputs active at same time to same output unless they are made for it. An ATS switches source to the output and is often connected befre for instance a breaker panel feeding it

Have you ever had overheating with this chip? My board looks exactly the same, but there's a notorious overheating issue that seems to be occurring with these boards recently which may be related to a cheap Chinese supplier. I have been trying to get my TTL<->RS232 connection to work with a firewall console cable -- almost the same as your setup -- except I'm using RJ45 pins 3,5,6 (rx,gnd,tx) and having a heck of a time getting it to work consistently.

I would like to switch automatically one battery power bank to another when the voltage drop, the switch’s I found don’t handle 100amp input. Any suggestions how to find? If you add cost to the consideration (and you have the room), solar panels make more sense than the expensive direct solar heating option no matter how efficient. Moreover, you may have your energy demands covered on cloudy days (when the direct solar heating option won't work either).

So this is like the amazon review where they buy the one with the 3 foot cord and give it 1 star because they needed 6 feet? Better to look for a review for the product in it's correct application. Or am I missing something?

That switch is a three phase model , I have one and it is a clever bit of gear and the switch timing has a dead bit to stop the two supplies being in contact. I am happy with it. The only time the switches can be live on both is when they are pushed manually which cannot happen.

Where would i go in those git hub files to change the serial port command set? I have a Steca, but it uses many of the same codes, just for different functions. I thought I would see at least outlandish values, but I get 0 for every field. I even reversed the tx and rx just in case. The same pinout on a usb to serial works fine, so it's not the cable...I fear it's the operator. There are values in Wifi topic, but every other topic is blank. I tried MPI and PIP. No change.

30ms would not shut down a computer. The PSU discharge isn't THAT low. It takes around 1-2s to completely discharge the PSU of a computer. It would indeed work for like a switch between solar, and grid power. Love the video though and very informative, thank you!
