The moon shows that however dark the night is, it's still possible to shine. 🌕 That's when the deep dives, the true strength and courage is needed. To meet self in the deepest, darkest, bleakest of nights but have such complete trust and faith in the process that it's still possible to shine. Shine brightly 🌕

Dear Daizan Skinner, What a wonderful video. You made several comments I found very helpful. When I have read about the tanden, somehow I had the impression it was on the front lower abdomen (on the surface), whereas it's better thought of as within - truly, the centre. How you explained how to combine the centredness of the tanden and boundlessness was also most helpful (& clear). Sometimes simple insights can make a big difference. My sense is that I got at least two such helpful insights from this one, short, video. Thank you. Gassho!

Where should the sitting be at in the position of the bench like towards the front edge or died center ? I have a VERY weak core and horrible back so i use a bench but i cant figure it out as my back arcs so fast 😢😢😢
@Zenways_zenКүн бұрын
I'd recommend doing a little work to build your core (we have some videos here that might help) 🙏

I liked the take of my old teacher, the wonderful maverick Nishijima Roshi. He said that Buddhism wasn't a religion but a sort of direct and practical humanist philosophy. He saw potential for Buddhism going this direction in its new encounter with the west. I think when people examine their own humanity and find no spirit, no god, nor any dazzling Buddha for that matter, but just our own remarkable ineffable existence, we will no longer need religion nor spirituality, and will grow up somewhat as a species. Best Regards, Harry

Maybe the transfer of merit is a conscious acknowledgement of individual practice within the context of Shunyata. The apparent benefit felt by the individual practitioner is simultaneously a benefit freely extended to all.

2 options for me 1. I will scratch 2. The itch becomes the focus of the meditation and I breathe and mentally repeat itch until it subsides and I can return to observing the breath.
