Can't wait to hit the tip shops when I'm in Oz in December. I think that the squares are great as is. It's a testament to how freeing it is to not care. I would totally make an "off kilter" quilt and say it was done on purpose, lol.

I think what shocks me most about Australia is the price of antiques. In Canada they're expensive but still affordable. A small table could cost $500 here but close to $2500 AUD for the same thing by you guys. It's shocking!

@@pallor17 oh yes everything is WAAAY expensive! Quite impossible to furnish in antiques unless you are getting lucky at garage sales!

what a fun bunch of ads! I love going through my old magazines. I found some from the early 1900s that I am still going through and cutting up. It is amazing to see what they advertised, and I love the color ads that can be found. Thanks for sharing! lots of fun!

What is the ratio of food coloring to water?
@pickypulp
@pickypulp Ай бұрын
There is no special ratio - add more or less water depending on the intensity if colour

Fo answer your question about what sorts of videos I'd like to see, I love watching any haul videos and seeing all the things you find. I also loved your older videos showing the travel and cooking journals you made. So if you ever make more journals, I'd love more flip throughs! I also own one of your journals and it is so pretty!

Just in case you were wondering, a 50 x 60 inch quilt or lap quilt, is perfectly adequate and no one would judge you if you suddenly found yourself with one. Just saying. Lol.

Waaaa thk u for this. Very excited to try. Wanna know: is there a brown food colouring to make ‘coffee & tea’ dyes? And if not what colours would u mix to get that effect?
@pickypulp
@pickypulp 3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure but I think probably yes, you could purchase at a specialty craft or baking store? I still suggest just using the cheapest and strongest instant coffee mixed with water for coffee dyed paper

I know what you mean about not liking to create ephemera. I don't either and I'm just like you: love to collect it more than make it. So glad you said this as many times I feel alone or like something is wrong with me, lol. I also prefer minimalist or even blank journals. Too much artwork inside is intimidating to me and deters me from using the journal. So collecting artwork and stuffed journals that others have done is great for ideas and inspiration or just to admire, but to me, anything more than bare bones is too precious to use.

How can I get a rich teal blue color???
@pickypulp
@pickypulp 4 ай бұрын
Try to find a “teal” food dye and use a ratio of more dye to water. I used just a basic “blue” for this project and by adjusting the amount of water i can create lighter or darker colours

The Queen brand of food colouring I use (in Australia) has a colour called “rose pink” which I use to make pink tones. I dilute with water depending on how light or dark I want the colour. Boiling avocado stones also produces a very light dusty pink dye that is very pretty, although not as vibrant as food colouring, and of course requires effort to collect the stones!

What fabulous results. I particularly like those that look black / are dark in parts. My dyeing experience is limited to using avocado skins/seeds. And coffee dyeing. Ive been collecting some rusty objects i want to try dyeing with

#replay I love how these papers turned out. After the journal is made, if someone handled the pages and had a little moisture on their hands, would that dye stay in their hands?
